Moments like these remind us that HIV is not a barrier to living fully, building families, and sustaining relationships. What matters is access to accurate information, consistent treatment, and a social environment that does not make people afraid to seek either.

This is exactly why communication matters. Because before people reach clinics, communities, or services, they first encounter narratives. And those narratives shape whether they feel safe or silenced.

Impact, then, is not confined to where we are physically present. It is reflected in how stigma is challenged, how understanding is built, and how many people are reached with information that could change or even save lives.

Different approaches exist, but the goal remains the same. To ensure that no one is left navigating HIV in fear, misinformation, or isolation.

THE mother is HIV POSITIVE, she takes her meds which makes her (viral load) count low, she can’t pass it off to her husband, which makes her able to still live her normal life and reproduce. The stigmas of HIV have to stop.

HIV is not a death sentence.

𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐃 | 𝐉𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐧 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐢𝐧 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐇𝐈𝐕 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐭𝐢𝐠𝐦𝐚

Amid the continued rise of HIV cases in the Philippines, coordinated and evidence-based action is urgently needed.

Project Yakap, in coalition with student governments, academic organizations, and advocacy groups, collectively affirm its commitment to addressing both the increasing incidence of HIV and the persistent stigma that undermines prevention, testing, and treatment efforts.

Recent data from the Department of Health and global health agencies indicate that 𝗮𝘁 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝟱𝟳 𝗙𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗼𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗴𝗻𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗛𝗜𝗩 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗱𝗮𝘆—underscoring the scale and urgency of the crisis.

We assert that youth engagement must move beyond symbolic participation. Young people must be recognized as active stakeholders in shaping responses that are informed, inclusive, and grounded in the realities of affected communities.

This statement calls for strengthened sexuality education, expanded access to youth-friendly health services, and sustained efforts to address misinformation and discrimination. Effective responses require accountability across institutions and meaningful collaboration across sectors.

Addressing HIV and AIDS is not solely a matter of awareness—it is a matter of access, equity, and sustained action.

Held at the 3rd Floor, Pakighinabi, CCFC Building, this 𝐏𝐚𝐠𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐠𝐚 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 created space for dialogue, critical reflection, and collective action. 🎉
