GEAR UP! 🏸

Look who just got her new Protech Sports jersey!

Congratulations, Mhary Lorenne! The jersey fits you perfectly! 😍 We hope you enjoy wearing it on and off the court.

A big thank you to Protech Sports - Philippines for making this Gear Up! giveaway possible.

The jersey was delivered to Mhary’s home yesterday, and later that day, I was happy to learn from her mom, Maricar, that the family was celebrating a special family occasion. What a nice coincidence - and we're glad the jersey arrived on a happy day. 😊

And thank you, Mommy Maricar D., for allowing us to share Mhary’s photo with our community.

Congratulations again, Mhary! Enjoy your new Protech jersey! 🎉

OPEN TO ALL LEVELS

If a badminton queue or OP is labeled “Open to all levels,” perhaps we should also be considerate of all levels.

Not everyone will have the same skills, experience, footwork, or understanding of the game.

I've heard players being laughed at and called “bobo,” “walang badminton IQ,” or “walang footwork” simply because they weren't as skilled.

You don't have to enjoy playing with everyone. You don't even have to agree to play with someone again.

But there's really no need to humiliate someone for showing up and trying to play.

People have different circumstances in life outside the court. Some just want to unwind, decompress, or exercise.

If it's open to all levels, let's make it feel that way, too.

Something I witnessed at badminton recently got me thinking.

There is a difference between pushing a young athlete to do better and making her feel that she constantly has to prove herself to earn her parent's respect.

I saw a student-athlete being heckled and shamed from the bench by her father and another adult. She didn't show that she was affected. Instead, she seemed even more determined to prove herself.

In between matches, she also happily shared that she was excused from attending classes in school because she is a student-athlete. Then the coach asked her about exams and other school requirments. She couldn't answer. The coach's statement was simple: school comes first.

Young athletes need discipline and accountability, but they also need encouragement and room to make mistakes.

A child shouldn't have to risk her body, her doubles partner's safety, or her education just to earn basic respect from a parent.

🏅

Congratulations to the Philippine Marine Corps for another successful edition of Kabayanihan Run, and to all the runners and participants who came out to support this meaningful cause.

The Kabayanihan Run helps provide educational assistance to college scholars of the Philippine Marine Corps Officers’ Spouses Association, including children of fallen and wounded Marines - and other PMC welfare programs. 🇵🇭

This year's event also featured the CAVITEX C5 Link as part of its race routes, with 21K, 42K, and 50K categories taking runners through this relatively new road connection.

And of course, congratulations to everyone behind the race - the sponsors, volunteers, race officials, marshals, organizers, and support teams who helped make the event a success.👏👏👏

🏅A medal earned by Barefoot Daves after completing the 21K Half Marathon at the PMC Kabayanihan Run 2026.
