“Bakit may Vitamin A din?”
Here are the answers to some frequently asked questions. ❤️
⸻
👶 Target age: 6–59 months old (6months to less than 5years old)
📅 August 10–28, 2026
💉 FREE sa participating government health facilities and vaccination sites.
⸻
The important word is SUPPLEMENTAL.
Ang MR-SIA dose ay additional dose given during a special immunization campaign, regardless of previous vaccination status.
Hindi ibig sabihin nito na:
❌ Hindi gumana ang previous MMR
❌ Kulang ang bakuna ng bata
❌ Inuulit lang nang walang dahilan ang vaccination
Instead, the campaign helps close immunity gaps and rapidly increase protection in the community.
⸻
❓ SAFE BA ANG ADDITIONAL MR DOSE?
YES.
Previous measles/MMR vaccination is not by itself a contraindication to receiving the supplemental MR dose.
Measles-containing vaccines have a long-established safety record.
Most reactions, if they occur, are mild and temporary.
⸻
❓ ANO ANG POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS?
After MR vaccination, some children may experience:
🌡️ Fever
💉 Pain/redness at the injection site
🔴 Mild rash
😣 Fussiness or temporary discomfort
Some fever or rash may appear several days after vaccination.
Serious reactions are rare, but seek medical attention for difficulty breathing, facial swelling, severe or persistent symptoms, or anything that concerns you.
⸻
❓ PAANO KUNG MAY RECENT VACCINE SI BABY SA PRIVATE?
IMPORTANT ITO.
MR is a LIVE vaccine.
For another injectable LIVE vaccine:
✅ It may generally be given on the SAME DAY as MR
OR
✅ If they were NOT given on the same day, they should generally be separated by at least 4 weeks (28 days).
Examples include certain measles-containing vaccines and varicella/chickenpox vaccine, japanese encephalitis vaccine
NOTE: Oral live vaccines such as rotavirus do not follow the same 4-week spacing rule.
⸻
💊 WHAT ABOUT VAS?
❓ ANO ANG VAS?
VAS = Vitamin A Supplementation
Vitamin A is an important micronutrient that supports:
👁️ Normal vision
🛡️ Immune function
🌱 Growth and development
❤️ Healthy tissues
DOH’s micronutrient supplementation program includes young children among its priority groups.
⸻
❓ BAKIT MAY VITAMIN A KASABAY NG CAMPAIGN?
Because MR vaccine and Vitamin A have different purposes.
💉 MR vaccine
→ protects against measles and rubella
💊 Vitamin A
→ prevents Vitamin A deficiency and supports normal immune and visual function
Hindi substitute ang isa sa isa.
A child may therefore receive MR vaccination and Vitamin A during the same visit when eligible.
⸻
❓ ANO ANG DOSE NG VITAMIN A?
For routine high-dose Vitamin A supplementation in children, the dose is age-dependent:
👶 6–11 months: 100,000 IU
🧒 12–59 months: 200,000 IU
The health worker should check the child’s age and previous Vitamin A supplementation before administration.
⸻
❓ NAKAINOM NA NG VITAMIN A/MULTIVITAMINS ANG ANAK KO. PWEDE PA BA?
Tell the health worker first.
Bring your child’s record and inform them about any recent high-dose Vitamin A supplementation.
Ordinary daily multivitamins are different from the high-dose Vitamin A capsules used in public-health supplementation programs.
The health worker should determine whether another dose is appropriate based on the child’s age, previous supplementation and timing of the last dose.
⸻
❓ MAY SIPON O UBO ANG ANAK KO. PWEDE BA?
A mild illness such as simple cough or colds is generally not a reason to automatically postpone vaccination.
However, children who are moderately or severely ill should be assessed first.
Always tell the vaccinator about your child’s current condition.
⸻
⚠️ SABIHIN MUNA SA HEALTH WORKER KUNG ANG BATA AY:
• May history of severe allergic reaction to a previous vaccine
• May known severe immune deficiency
• Receiving chemotherapy or significant immunosuppressive treatment
• Recently received blood or certain blood products
• Recently received another live vaccine
• Currently moderately or severely ill
These situations may require further assessment before MR vaccination.
⸻
👩🏻⚕️ BAGO PUMUNTA SA HEALTH CENTER:
📒 Dalhin ang vaccination card/baby book.
💉 I-report ang recent vaccines, especially live vaccines.
💊 I-report kung kailan huling nabigyan ng high-dose Vitamin A.
🩺 Sabihin kung may current illness or important medical condition.
❤️ BOTTOM LINE
MR-SIA: Para protektahan laban sa MEASLES + RUBELLA
VAS: Para makatulong maiwasan ang VITAMIN A DEFICIENCY
💉 MR-SIA is supplemental — even previously vaccinated eligible children are included.
💊 Vitamin A supplementation is based on the child’s age and appropriate dosing schedule.
Protektadong bata, protektadong pamilya, protektadong komunidad. ❤️
