Equally meaningful was reconnecting with colleagues and meeting new friends -- all passionate and inspiring in their pursuit of excellence in plastic surgery. What a weekend of learning, collaboration and camaraderie. ✨🫶🏼

When I was a first-year resident, I was sent to the principal's office for an admission concern (partly my fault, but mostly due to a then-broken hospital system). The surgeon told me I was better off selling cars. I was embarrassed and insulted at the same time. I vowed to work harder than ever before.

Fast forward to now—I am a board-certified plastic surgeon, proving that resilience, determination, and passion can break barriers. In a field where women have had to fight for their place, I stand on the shoulders of those who came before me and pave the way for those who will come after.

This National Women’s Month, I celebrate not just my journey but the strength of every woman who dares to defy expectations. To all the women in surgery and beyond— let's keep pushing forward, and let's keep lifting each other up. ✨👩🏻‍⚕️

That is, Tissue management, Infection control, Moisture balance and Edge advancement.

Last February 9, 2025, the Department of Surgery held a wound and stoma care workshop for the GS residents in Rizal Medical Center.

We had mini-lectures and actual demos of how to use the Sonoca debridement machine, how to apply the different dressings including the negative pressure wound therapy.
