Face-to-face classes in all levels both in private and public schools in Atok, Benguet on September 1, 2026 are suspended thru the Executive Order No. 2026-66 of the Hon. Franklin L. Smith, Municipal Mayor.
In view of the inclement weather conditions currently being experienced in the Municipality of Atok due to the prevailing Southwest Monsoon (Habagat), which is being enhanced by the effects of tropical cyclones as monitored and forecasted by DOST-PAGASA, the Local Government Unit continues to closely monitor the situation and its possible impacts on the community.
Likewise, rainfall warnings monitored through the Northern Luzon PAGASA Regional Services Division (NLPRSD) over the past days have placed Benguet, including the Municipality of Atok, under Yellow and Orange Rainfall Warnings, indicating the possibility of moderate to intense rainfall. The prolonged and intermittent rainfall has consequently resulted in unstable road conditions, and other related concerns.
Moreover, the Local Chief Executive in coordination with the Department of Education-Atok District, finds it necessary to suspend the face-to-face classes due to the possible risks of observed/ monitored weather conditions and its associated risks.
However, the Schools thru their respective School Heads shall continue to implement the Alternative Delivery Mode (ADM) and/or other applicable learning continuity measures in accordance with existing DepEd policies and guidelines.
Learners are advised to comply with the learning requirements and instructions provided by their respective schools and to refrain from unnecessary outdoor activities.
Lastly, parents and guardians are likewise strongly encouraged to prioritize the safety and well-being of their children or wards, particularly when weather and road conditions deteriorate, and to exercise appropriate judgment in allowing them to travel or participate in activities outside their homes.
