I am truly grateful for the opportunity to share my experience after undergoing ICL (Implantable Contact Lens) surgery. Before the procedure, I struggled with poor vision for almost 4 decades and feeling limited in so many simple moments. My eye grade had reached as high as 2000 in refraction with 400 astigmatism and it felt like my world was always blurred unless I relied on something external just to see.. As a teacher, everyday activities like reading, writing, and even recognizing faces from a distance were challenging even with the help of glasses or contact lenses since I can no longer carry my actual eye grade, so I just used less than my actual eye grade. There were also times that my friends told me that I am snobbing them outside our workplace which in fact, I just cannot recognize them (so why should I smile at someone whom i can't recognize)😂😂😂
Deciding to undergo ICL surgery was not easy at first. I had fears and doubts, especially since it involves a delicate part of the body, the eyes. One of the biggest things I had to face wasn’t just the procedure itself, but also the cost. I kept asking myself, “Is it worth it? Can I really do this?” It wasn’t an easy decision. I had to weigh everything carefully, and there were moments I almost gave up on the idea. But deep in my heart, I knew this was something that could change my life.
It's good that I found and considered the "EYE CAN PHILIPPINES, INC., EYE CAN REFRACTIVE AND AESTHETICS". With proper guidance, research, and trust with the doctors, I found the courage to proceed.
The surgery itself was quicker than I expected. I felt minimal discomfort, and the medical team made sure I was calm and well taken care of throughout the process. Right after the procedure, I already noticed improvements in my vision, although there were some normal effects like halos and slight blurriness at first.
As the days passed, my vision became clearer and more stable. Experiencing the world with improved eyesight felt like a new beginning. Simple things like seeing clearly without reaching for glasses became moments I deeply appreciate. This journey taught me the importance of trusting the process and taking a step toward improving my quality of life.
It felt overwhelming in the most beautiful way. I realized that all the doubts, fears, and sacrifices, including the financial ones, were all worth it. This experience taught me so much. Sometimes, the things that scare us the most are the ones that can transform our lives. Sometimes, we just need to trust the process, take a leap of faith, and allow ourselves to grow through it.
Today, I woke up with gratitude in my heart. Grateful for clearer vision. Grateful for the courage I found within myself. And most especially, grateful for my family and true friends who prayed for me, supported and checked on me, and showed concern especially my BFF Raffy Cumigad Cajuday who insisted to accompany me during the surgery.
I am also thankful for the skilled professionals at Eye Can Philippines, Inc., Eye Can Refractive & Aesthetics especially to my beautiful, calm and kind Surgeon-Ophthalmologist, Doc Aye Mapile Roberts, who performed the procedure with love and care, Nurse Jim, who assisted me throughout the procedure, and to all the friendly staff out there, Ms Celine, Ms Emery, Sir Yuki, (and to others na hindi ko po inalam ang names, sorry po✌️✌️)
Above all, I am deeply thankful to our Almighty God, who never fails to guide me and my family. In every moment of doubt, fear, and uncertainty I felt, His presence gave me strength and peace. This journey was not just a physical one but also a spiritual reminder that I was never alone.
Overall, my ICL surgery has been a positive and life-changing experience, and I am grateful every day for clearer vision and a brighter perspective on life.
To anyone considering ICL surgery, my advice is to seek proper consultation, understand the procedure, and trust your doctor. It may feel scary at first, but the outcome can truly be worth it.
