**LONG CAPTION, PLEASE READ**
I saw a woman say she’s in her 30s, no boyfriend since birth, and starting to wonder if maybe she’s just not conventionally attractive enough to be pursued.
And honestly? I felt that.
Growing up and dating in the Philippines, I internalized a lot of the same thoughts. I’m plus-size, and I didn’t fit the very specific beauty standard that gets a LOT of attention here. When you’re not the girl men openly pursue, compliment, or flirt with, it’s very easy to start thinking, “Maybe there’s just something wrong with me.”
But then I left the Philippines.
And something really unexpected happened.
I started getting pursued. By multiple men. Men who found me attractive. Men who made their interest obvious. Men who didn’t treat my weight like it disqualified me from being desirable.
And the funny thing is… I didn’t change.
Same face.
Same body.
Same personality.
Same woman.
The only thing that changed was the environment I was in.
That experience taught me something I wish more women understood: your dating history is not an objective measurement of your attractiveness.
Sometimes you’re surrounded by people who simply don’t find your particular features, body type, personality, or energy desirable. And when that happens for long enough, you start believing that their lack of interest is a universal truth.
It isn’t.
There are people out there who will look at the exact things you’re insecure about and genuinely think they’re beautiful.
So if you’re 25, 31, 35, 40… and you’ve never been in a relationship, please don’t automatically translate that into “I must be unattractive.”
Maybe you just haven’t met your audience yet.
And girl… your audience might be MUCH bigger than you think. ❤️
