Bringing healthcare closer to the community
The TB Caravan successfully conducted in Brgy. Maligaya, Mallig on April 30, 2026, marks another meaningful step toward a healthier and TB-free community.
This activity was made possible through the collaborative efforts of PBSP and DOH Cagayan Valley, in strong partnership with the local government and dedicated health workers on the ground. Their commitment to public health continues to make a real difference, especially in reaching underserved and high-risk populations.
With the active participation of community members, barangay officials, BHWs and BNS, the TB Caravan not only provided essential diagnostic services but also raised awareness on the importance of early detection, proper treatment, and reducing stigma surrounding tuberculosis.
Together, we move forward in strengthening our fight against TB.

When it comes to public health, “prevention is better than cure” truly holds its ground.
The Food and Water-Borne Diseases and Emerging and Re-emerging Infectious Diseases Joint Forum was successfully conducted by the DOH Cagayan Valley in collaboration with IPHO-sabela. The activity aimed to strengthen awareness and improve knowledge on the prevention and control of communicable diseases in the community.
With the full support of Mayor Jose Philip "JP" Calderon, the Municipality of Mallig hosted the said activity. Rural Health Unit of Mallig under the leadership of the MHO, Dr. Florentino R. Somera III played a key role in the smooth implementation of the program.
The active participation of Brgy Officials, BHWs, and BNS greatly contributed to the success of the forum. Their involvement ensured that important health information was effectively shared.
The activity was successfully conducted, strengthening collaboration among health partners and empowering community frontliners in promoting a healthier and more resilient Malligueño.

Matapos ang dalawang araw na pagsasagawa ng libreng tuli sa RHU Mallig, halos ubos ang aming lakas, ramdam ang pagod sa mga kamay at ang pananakit ng likod. Sa mahusay na pangunguna ni . Florentino R. Somera III, MHO at . Dolle Aranda, MO III, matagumpay na naisakatuparan ang nasabing aktibidad.
Sa kabila ng hirap, sulit ang bawat patak ng pawis, ang mga ngiti at saya ng mga kabataang Malligueño na lumahok ang nagsilbing malinaw na patunay na ang aming mga pagsisikap ay tunay na nagbunga.
Lubos ang aming pasasalamat kay Mayor Jose Philip "JP" Calderon sa kanyang patuloy na suporta sa aming mga programa, na nagbibigay lakas at inspirasyon sa amin upang ipagpatuloy ang paglilingkod sa komunidad.

March 11, 2026, the 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗟𝗮𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗦𝗶𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗞𝗮𝗹𝘂𝘀𝘂𝗴𝗮𝗻 was successfully conducted at the Centro 1 Community Center, Mallig, Isabela The activity was spearheaded by the RHU Mallig under the leadership of 𝗗𝗿. 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗼 𝗥. 𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗮 𝗜𝗜𝗜, in collaboration with the 𝗜ntegrated Provincial Health Office-Isabela, with the strong support of Mun. Mayor Hon. Jose Philip "JP" Calderon. Their collective efforts truly showed that teamwork makes the dream work in advancing community health programs in the municipality.
The activity provided an opportunity to take stock of the program’s progress and recognize the milestones achieved through the implementation of the PuroKalusugan Program. It also served as the perfect occasion to set the stage for the launching of new PuroKalusugan sites, bringing essential health services closer to the grassroots and ensuring that no community is left behind.
During the program, personnel from the Integrated Provincial Health Office-Isabela, mam Mitzi Q. Caramat conducted an informative lecture on rabies awareness, emphasizing prevention and the importance of vaccination. The session reminded participants that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, especially in protecting communities from preventable diseases.
One of the highlights of the activity was the distribution of speakers to the different barangays, which will be utilized during Information Educational Campaign (IEC) activities and Zumba sessions for senior citizens. These speakers will serve as essential tools in promoting health education, encouraging physical activity, and strengthening community engagement, particularly among the elderly population.
The event was attended by SB Committee on Health, 𝗛𝗼𝗻. 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘁 𝗝𝗼𝘀𝗼𝗻, together with barangay Captains, BHWs, and BNSs. Their presence highlighted that it takes a village to build healthier communities and sustain effective health initiatives.
Indeed, the successful conduct of the activity proves that when leaders and community health workers join hands and work hand in hand, meaningful change can happen. The launching of new PuroKalusugan sites, along with the distribution of speakers for community IEC and senior citizen Zumba sessions, marks another important step forward as the municipality continues to move the needle in improving accessible and quality health services for the people of Mallig.

ANIMAL BITE TREATMENT CENTER UPDATE!

Nais po naming ipabatid na simula bukas, February 20, 2026 ay magiging libre na pong muli ang ating Anti-Rabies Vaccine para sa Category 2 at Category 3 Bite/Non-Bite exposures para sa ating mga kababayan. As of now, 100 vials palang po ang supply natin or up to (300 doses) lamang po ang pwede naming maioffer. Para sa mga magpapabakuna pakidala po sana ang mga Philhealth ID or MDR. Maraming Salamat po❤️

E-Referral System Orientation Conducted by PHU–SIMC Staff
An orientation on Electronic Referral (E-Referral) System was conducted by PHU–Southern Isabela Medical Center (SIMC) personnel to strengthen coordination and continuity of care between referring health facilities and the hospital. The activity was attended by MHO R. Somera III, Dr. Mary Dolle Aranda, MO III and RHU staff, demonstrating the municipality’s commitment to improving referral efficiency and patient management.
The orientation focused on familiarizing health personnel with the proper use of the e-referral platform, including standard referral protocols, documentation requirements, and timely submission of patient information. Emphasis was placed on the role of the system in ensuring efficient patient transfers, reducing delays in care, and enhancing coordination between primary healthcare facilities and higher level hospitals.
