Hurricane Helene Disaster Relief

On this anniversary of the killing of Michael Brown, and as I we know by now, there are likely many others I want to share this piece a young person sent to me. I hear the Righteous anger and pain in her voice around the killing of Sonya Massey. In this price Danielle honors the pain and visceral fear Black people walk with everyday for ourselves or one another; sometimes even unknowingly.

Danielle then leads us from these ills towards ways to reduce our suffering. Supports us with shifting from our addiction to knowing and sharing trauma frequently, to learning to notice it and be with it when it shows up inside us.

I’m not the best reviewer but I wanted to share these words in hopes that you’ll also read her piece, and encourage her to keep writing.

And don’t forget we can hold the anniversary of the death of Michael Brown, the anniversary of devastation of Nagasaki, the genocides in Gaza, Sudan and Syria, and more, with all the wars when we know our limits and commit to practices of self care and care for those near to us.

May we all find refuge in people, places, nature, and spirits that are here for us, including nature herself.
