Despite being born into a wealthy family, St. Francis vowed a life of poverty and devotion, repairing several chapels in early Italy. He founded the Order of the Friars Minor, following the primitive rule of following the teachings of Christ and walking in His footsteps. โœ๏ธ

St. Francis and St. Dominic were the "Holy Companions", contemporaries and friends. This close friendship extends until today with the "abrazo" or Holy Embrace, celebrating the unity of the two orders towards the salvation of souls. ๐Ÿค

As we celebrate the Feast of St. Francis, we Thomasian physicians are reminded to care for everyone and everything. As stewards of the earth, we are called to protect not only our health, but the very world that was created by God. ๐ŸŒ

โ€œI give you thanks, O Lord, with my whole heart; before the gods I sing your praise.โ€ โ€” Psalm 138:1

The Feast of the Holy Archangels reminds us of Godโ€™s constant guidance, protection, and healing presence through His faithful messengers. St. Michael embodies courage and strength, St. Gabriel reflects humility and obedience in proclaiming Godโ€™s word, while St. Raphael represents compassion and healing for those in need.

As Thomasians doctors, may we carry these virtues throughout our journey of becoming healers. May we seek the courage of St. Michael when facing challenges, the humility of St. Gabriel in acquiring knowledge, and the compassion of St. Raphael in caring for every patient we encounter.

May our pursuit of medicine always be guided by faith, excellence, and service, allowing us to become instruments of healing who bring not only treatment, but also comfort and hope to those entrusted to our care.

St. Michael, St. Gabriel, and St. Raphael, holy Archangels, pray for us. ๐Ÿ™

โ€œI am a Catholic and wholeheartedly do accept death for God. Had I a thousand lives, all these to Him shall I offer.โ€

On the Feast of St. Lorenzo Ruiz, Filipino Protomartyr, we honor the life of a fellow Filipino whose unwavering faith, courage, and devotion to Christ remained steadfast even amidst the greatest trials. His life reminds us that true service is rooted in love, sacrifice, and a commitment to uphold Godโ€™s mission.

As Thomasian physicians in formation, may St. Lorenzo Ruiz inspire us to carry our vocation with the same courage and humility. In every patient we encounter, may we see not only a person seeking healing, but a life entrusted to our care. May our pursuit of medicine be guided by compassion, integrity, and a heart willing to serve, reflecting the Thomasian values of faith, excellence, and service to others.

Like St. Lorenzo, may we remain steadfast in our calling, offering our knowledge, skills, and lives in the service of God and humanity. May we become physicians who heal not only through our hands, but through our hearts.

St. Lorenzo Ruiz, Filipino Protomartyr and model of faithful service, pray for us. ๐Ÿ™

๐Ÿฉบโœจ Feast of Saints Cosmas and Damian โœจ๐Ÿฉบ

Today, we honor Saints Cosmas and Damian, brothers, physicians, and martyrs known as the Anargyroi, meaning โ€œthe Unmercenary Ones.โ€ They cared for the sick and offered their healing freely, serving not for wealth or reward, but out of love for God and others.

As medical students of UST FMS, may their example remind us that medicine is more than a professionโ€”it is a vocation to heal and serve. May we strive to become physicians who use our knowledge with compassion, our hands with humility, and our hearts with faith.

Heal with skill. Serve with compassion. Give without expecting anything in return. ๐Ÿค๐Ÿฉบ

Anargyroi, or the silverless ones, was the title given to St. Cosmas and St. Damian, the physician brothers who devoted their lives to healing others without seeking earthly reward. Their unwavering compassion and selfless service remind us that the practice of medicine is not only a pursuit of knowledge and skill, but also a mission of love and charity.

As Thomasian doctors, may we be inspired by the example of our patrons to serve with humility, integrity, and genuine concern for every patient entrusted to our care. May we strive to become physicians who treat not only illnesses, but also the people behind them, recognizing the dignity and humanity of every individual.

โ€œFor I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.โ€ โ€” Matthew 9:13

On this Feast of St. Matthew, Apostle and Evangelist, we are reminded of Christโ€™s call to conversion, mercy, and service. From a tax collector to a faithful disciple, St. Matthewโ€™s life reflects that Godโ€™s grace reaches everyone and transforms every heart willing to answer His call.

As future physicians, may we be inspired by St. Matthewโ€™s example to see beyond illness and recognize the dignity of every person we serve. May we continue to practice medicine with compassion, humility, and a heart devoted to healing both the body and the soul.

May St. Matthew guide us in living out our mission to serve others through faith, knowledge, and love.

St. Matthew, Apostle and Evangelist, pray for us. ๐Ÿ™
