What Is Keeping You From Coming Fully to Christ?

INTRODUCTION

Salvation is God’s greatest gift to humanity. It is not something we can earn through money, good works, religion, or human effort. Salvation is found in Jesus Christ alone.

Ephesians 2:8–9 says, “For by grace you have been saved through faith… not of works.”

Yet even though God offers salvation freely, there are things that can hinder a person from receiving, accepting, and living in that salvation.

Sometimes the greatest obstacle is not God.

It is us.

We allow sin, pride, fear, possessions, relationships, the love of the world, or the desire to control our own lives to stand between us and Christ.

Jesus once asked:

“What shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” Mark 8:36

Today, let us examine three powerful hindrances that can keep people from experiencing the fullness of salvation.

1. SIN THAT WE REFUSE TO LET GO

Sin does not simply make our lives difficult; it separates us from God.

Isaiah 59:2
“But your iniquities have separated between you and your God.”

Many people want salvation, but they do not want to surrender the sin they have become comfortable with.

We say:

“I want Jesus, but I also want to keep my old life.”

“I want God's blessing, but I don't want to change.”

“I want forgiveness, but I don't want repentance.”

But salvation calls us to turn from sin and turn toward Christ.

Acts 3:19
“Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out.”

RELATABLE TO DAILY LIFE

Sometimes the hindrance is not a big public sin.

It may be:

• unforgiveness
• bitterness
• dishonesty
• secret addiction
• pride
• lust
• jealousy
• hatred
• greed
• an unhealthy relationship
• a habit we know is wrong but refuse to surrender

We cannot ask God to transform our lives while continuously protecting the things that are destroying our lives.

You cannot hold tightly to sin and tightly to Christ at the same time.

Salvation begins with a heart willing to say:

“Lord, I surrender. Change me.”

2. PRIDE THAT REFUSES TO SURRENDER

One of the greatest enemies of salvation is pride.

Pride says:

“I can save myself.”

“I don't need God.”

“I know better.”

“I will change when I am ready.”

“I don't need to listen.”

But salvation requires humility.

James 4:6
“God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.”

Think about how difficult it can be for a person to admit:

“I was wrong.”

“I need forgiveness.”

“I need God.”

“I cannot do this by myself.”

Yet those words can become the beginning of transformation.

The prodigal son experienced restoration when he finally humbled himself and returned to his father.

Luke 15:17–18 describes his realization:

“I will arise and go to my father.”

RELATABLE TO DAILY LIFE

Sometimes we are more willing to lose a relationship than admit we are wrong.

We would rather defend ourselves than repent.

We would rather protect our reputation than confess our weakness.

We would rather appear strong before people than admit that we desperately need God.

But remember:

God does not require you to pretend that you are strong. He invites you to recognize that you need Him.

The cross itself reminds us that we cannot save ourselves.

Salvation begins where self-reliance ends and surrender begins.

3. THE WORLD AND ITS DISTRACTIONS

Another great hindrance is becoming so attached to this world that we lose sight of eternity.

Jesus warned about the danger of allowing earthly things to control our hearts.

Matthew 6:21
“For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”

The problem is not necessarily money, success, relationships, education, career, or possessions.

The problem comes when those things become more important to us than God.

The world constantly tells us:

“Get more.”

“Become successful.”

“Look better.”

“Make more money.”

“Be accepted.”

“Enjoy yourself.”

“Follow your desires.”

But Jesus asks a deeper question:

“Where is your soul?”

RELATABLE TO DAILY LIFE

We can become so busy making a living that we forget to live for God.

We can spend hours scrolling through our phones but struggle to spend a few minutes in God's Word.

We can make time for entertainment but say we are too busy to pray.

We can worry about our future while forgetting the One who holds our future.

We can chase temporary happiness while neglecting eternal life.

The world does not always pull us away from God through something obviously evil.

Sometimes it simply keeps us too busy to seek Him.

Jesus said:

“Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness.”
Matthew 6:33

The question is not simply:

“What do I have?”

The deeper question is:

“What has my heart?”

CONCLUSION:

DON'T LET ANYTHING STAND BETWEEN YOU AND SALVATION

1. NALIGAW TAYO — KAILANGAN NATING BUMALIK
Isaiah 53:6
“Tayong lahat ay parang mga tupang naligaw...”

Tulad ng isang tupa na naliligaw mula sa pastol, maaari rin tayong maligaw sa buhay.
Minsan, nagsisimula ito sa maliliit na bagay: nawawala ang ating pananalangin, hindi na tayo nagbabasa ng Salita ng Diyos, at mas inuuna natin ang mga bagay ng mundo.
Pero kapag napansin nating lumalayo na tayo, huwag tayong manatili roon. Bumalik tayo sa Diyos.

2. NAGKASALA TAYO — KAILANGAN NATING MAGSISI
Makikita natin ito sa Prodigal Son — Lucas 15:11–32.
Lumayo ang bunsong anak sa kanyang ama at inubos ang kanyang kayamanan. Nang dumating ang panahon na wala na siyang makain at tuluyan siyang naghirap, napagtanto niya ang kanyang pagkakamali.
Lucas 15:17
“Nang siya'y matauhan, sinabi niya...”
Nagdesisyon siyang bumalik sa kanyang ama.
Lucas 15:20
“At siya'y nagtindig at naparoon sa kanyang ama.”
Ang mahalagang bagay ay hindi lamang niya napagtanto na nagkamali siya. Kumilos siya at bumalik.
Ganoon din tayo. Kapag nagkasala tayo, huwag nating takasan ang Diyos. Magsisi tayo at bumalik sa Kanya.

A Message of Hope for Those Who Have Departed from the Lord

INTRODUCTION:
There are people who once walked closely with the Lord but have slowly drifted away. Some have been hurt, disappointed,
tempted, discouraged, or
distracted by the things of this world. Others may feel that they have gone too far to return to God.

But the good news of the Gospel is this: God does not stop calling His children back. Jesus said, “The Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” — Luke 19:10

If someone has departed from the Lord, their story does not have to end in separation. There is still an invitation to return, a place of forgiveness, and a Father whose arms remain open.

1. God still calls the wandering heart

Sometimes people leave God because they believe they have failed too many times. They may think they are no longer worthy to come back.

But God calls us to return.

“Return to me, and I will return to you, says the LORD of hosts.”
Malachi 3:7

The story of the prodigal son in Luke 15:11–24 shows us the heart of God. The son left his father, wasted what he had been given, and eventually found himself broken and empty. Yet when he decided to return, his father welcomed him with compassion.

Encouragement:
You may have walked away from God, but God has not forgotten you. Your failure is not greater than His grace.

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins.”1 John 1:9

2. God's grace is greater than our failures
One of the greatest lies the enemy tells people is, “You are too far gone.”

But Scripture tells us something different.

Peter denied Jesus three times, yet Jesus did not permanently reject him. After the resurrection, Christ restored Peter and gave him responsibility in ministry (John 21:15–17).

This reminds us that failure does not have to be the final chapter of our lives.

“Where sin increased, grace abounded all the more.”
Romans 5:20

God's grace is not permission to continue in sin. Rather, His grace gives us the opportunity to repent, be restored, and begin again.

Encouragement:
Do not allow your past to convince you that God has no future for you. The same God who restored Peter can restore a wandering heart today.

3. Come home before it is too late
God's invitation is available today.

“Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts.”
Hebrews 3:15

We should not continue delaying our return to God. Tomorrow is not promised.

“Seek the LORD while he may be found; call upon him while he is near. Isaiah 55:6

Returning to God begins with repentance and faith. It means turning away from the path that leads us away from Him and turning our hearts back toward Christ.

Jesus promises:

“Whoever comes to me I will never cast out.” John 6:37

Encouragement:
If you are still breathing, there is still an opportunity to turn back to God. Come home. Pray again. Open the Bible again. Worship again. Seek God again. His invitation is still open.

Conclusion: The Father Is Still Waiting

The message to those who have departed from the Lord is not simply, “You have gone too far.”

The message is:
COME HOME.

The prodigal son came home and found forgiveness.

Peter failed and found restoration.

The lost sheep was searched for and brought back.

And Jesus continues to seek those who are lost.

“For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found.”
Luke 15:24

If you have departed from the Lord, do not let shame keep you away from Him.

If someone you love has departed from the Lord, do not stop praying for them.

Keep loving them. Keep encouraging them. Keep showing them the grace of Christ. And keep believing that God can reach their heart.

Observation:
An Eager Soul Who Longed to Hear God’s Word

Glory be to God!

I give thanks to the Lord for providing wonderful companions who continue to help and support me in this ministry. I am truly grateful for every person God has placed alongside me as we serve Him and reach people in the community.

And once again, glory to God, because He guided us to encounter one precious soul, Ate Gina Salvador.

Our encounter with Ate Gina was truly an experience that melted my heart and awakened a deeper compassion within me. She is an eager soul who genuinely desires to hear the Word of God.

Ate Gina had already seen us sharing God's Word during our Bible study here in Anak Pawis. She told us that she was actually shy to approach us, so instead, she would observe us from a distance. She was so eager to hear God's Word that she even bought something from the store near us just so she could stay close enough to listen to the Bible study properly.

At that moment, I thought to myself, “What an eager soul!” Her desire to hear God's Word was truly inspiring. She did not immediately approach us, but her actions showed that she was genuinely interested in knowing more about God.

I am also thankful for one of my biggest supporters in ministry, Mama Jenida, who is herself an eager soul to hear God's Word and faithfully helps us in the ministry.

Because we were unable to proceed with our planned Bible study with Sis. Aileen due to her busy schedule, she asked us to reschedule our Bible study for Saturday. Because of this unexpected change, we had the opportunity to share God's Word with Ate Gina instead.

Mama Jenida also encouraged us to share the Gospel with Ate Gina, and God opened the door for us to have a wonderful encounter with her.

We were able to sit with Ate Gina, share God's Word, and talk about the importance of knowing Christ and receiving Him into our lives. It was a meaningful moment because we could see her openness and desire to know more about the Lord.

By God's grace, Ate Gina expressed her willingness to accept Christ this coming Sunday. We continue to pray that the Holy Spirit will guide her heart, strengthen her faith, and lead her into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ.

This experience reminded me that there are people around us who are already searching, listening, and longing to hear the truth of God's Word. Sometimes, they may be shy to approach us, but God is already working in their hearts before we even know it.

I am deeply thankful to the Lord for every companion, every supporter, every unexpected encounter, and every open door He provides in this ministry.

“For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” — Luke 19:10

May Ate Gina's life become a testimony of God's grace, and may this be only the beginning of what God wants to do in her life and in her family.

Bago kami umalis ay nagtanong kami if Kong pwede kami sa bahay nila mag bible study pero timanggi siya Kasi at ayaw na raw Niya mag research about sa ibang katuroan ng Bible, Kaya matapos non ay nanalangin nalang kami at saka umalis.

Good afternoon, mga kapatid.

Matapos ang aming paglalakad at paghahanap ng mga maaaring makausap at makilala, may mga taong nilapitan namin, ngunit hindi nila kami tinanggap dahil ayaw nilang magkaroon ng Bible study o kahit makipag-usap man lamang.

Kaya, kaysa masayang ang aming oras sa mga taong ayaw tumanggap sa amin, naisip namin na mas mabuting puntahan ang ating mga kapatid na hindi nakakapagsamba at alamin ang kanilang kalagayan.

Dahil dito, dinalaw namin ang ating mga kapatid na sina Sis. Celsa at Sis. May. Sila ay mga kapatid na hindi nakakapagsamba dahil inuusig sila ng kanilang mga asawa sa kabila ng kanilang paglilingkod sa Panginoon.

Kaya hindi namin pinalampas ang pagkakataon na sila ay dalawin at makausap. Nagkaroon din kami ng Bible study sa kanila at napag-usapan namin ang mga pagsubok at pag-uusig na kanilang nararanasan. Bagama't mahirap ang kanilang pinagdaraanan, naniniwala tayo na ang kanilang pagtitiis at katapatan sa paglilingkod sa Panginoon ay may kabuluhan sa harapan ng Diyos.

Nawa'y patuloy silang palakasin ng Panginoon at bigyan ng katatagan sa kanilang pananampalataya.
