🤱 Training on Community-Based HIV Screening for Midwives with TEMTCT Component
📅 July 14-15, 2026

To support the expansion of the Triple Elimination of Mother-to-Child Transmission initiative in CALABARZON, the HIV, AIDS, and STI Prevention and Control Program partnered with the Rizal Provincial Health Office, Safe Motherhood Program, Sustained Health Initiatives of the Philippines - SHIP, and Healthy Futures Global to train midwives in community-based HIV screening.

The training strengthened participants' competencies in HIV screening and integrated TEMTCT services, empowering them to provide timely, systematic care for pregnant women and their babies.

Participants also earned 14 CPD units in Midwifery, further strengthening the region's skilled maternal healthcare workforce. 💙

🤝 Strengthening and Sustaining Local Response: HIV/AIDS Program Planning Workshop among Stakeholders

The Lucena City DOH Office, in collaboration with the HIV, AIDS, and STI Prevention and Control Program, City Government of Lucena, and Philippine National AIDS Council - PNAC, successfully conducted a program planning workshop and commitment signing to strengthen the city's HIV response.

Bringing together city councilors, the Local Youth Development Unit, and national government agencies, the activity fostered a unified plan to streamline HIV services, intensify advocacy efforts, and promote collaborative, multisectoral action.

Together, we are building a stronger, more sustainable, and people-centered HIV response for every community in Lucena City. 🌈

💙 Training of Local Mentors on HIV Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis

With this commitment, the DOH CALABARZON, in partnership with LoveYourself Inc and Sustained Health Initiatives of the Philippines - SHIP, trained 23 physicians, nurses, and case managers to become local HIV PrEP mentors.

These mentors will support the expansion of PrEP services in Rural Health Units, Primary Care Facilities, and private healthcare institutions, making HIV prevention more accessible for everyone.

Together, we are bringing proven HIV prevention closer to every community and building a future where everyone has equitable access to protection. 🤝✨

🩺 Exploratory Meeting for the Viral Hepatitis Prevention and Control Project with US CDC and JHPIEGO

The HIV, AIDS, and STI Prevention and Control Program, together with the Safe Motherhood Program, participated in an exploratory meeting with US CDC and Jhpiego Philippines to strengthen the regional response against viral hepatitis. 🤝

The collaboration aims to establish pilot implementation sites across CALABARZON, expanding access to viral hepatitis screening and immunization services in primary care and hospital-based facilities. 🌍💙

🎓 Training on HIV Counseling and Testing
📅 June 22-25, 2026

The Center for Health Development IV-A, in collaboration with Sustained Health Initiatives of the Philippines - SHIP, successfully conducted a CPD-accredited Training on HIV Counseling and Testing to expand the pool of competent HIV counselors across strategic HIV Treatment Facilities, City/Municipal Health Offices, and implementing partners in CALABARZON.

This training activity strengthens the delivery of accessible, confidential, and stigma-free HIV testing and screening services, bringing quality care closer to communities.

Participants also earned CPD units: Medicine (22), Nursing (23.75), Medical Technology (20), Midwifery (26), and Pharmacy (15.5). 💙

The Rizal Provincial Health Office, through its Provincial HIV, AIDS, and STI Prevention and Control Program, and in coordination with the Center for Health Development IV-A and Rizal Provincial DOH Office, successfully convened all DOH-accredited HIV Treatment Facilities in Rizal Province to align and harmonize the local HIV response.

This initiative focuses on strengthening protection systems, continuity of care, and wellness pathways for people living with HIV - ensuring accessible, coordinated, and client-centered services across facilities.
Through unified efforts, partners aim to improve treatment outcomes, support systems, and overall quality of life, advancing a more responsive and inclusive HIV care network in Rizal.

🔬 Training on Basic Microscopy of Sexually Transmitted Infections

The DOH CHD IV-A, in collaboration with the University of the Philippines Manila - Department of Medical Microbiology UPCPH, successfully trained 20 Registered Medical Technologists on the microscopy of common sexually transmitted infections. 🧪

This initiative strengthens the region’s capacity for accurate and timely STI diagnosis, improves the specimen referral system, and supports more responsive healthcare services for local reproductive health and wellness centers.
