For the past 2 months, this has been our routine.

Waking up each day, heading to the hospital, checking on the girls, doing kangaroo care, feeding, pumping, praying, and then leaving them again at the end of the day. In many ways, I’ve adjusted to it. But no matter how familiar it becomes, there’s still a different kind of pain that comes with knowing I can’t care for my babies 24/7 the way I long to.

They still need the critical care, monitoring, and support of their doctors and nurses, and for that I am endlessly grateful. But there are moments when all I want is to be the one comforting them every time they cry, holding them whenever they need me, and waking up beside them instead of having to leave them behind.

Some days, im strong. Some days, im filled with hope as I carry each of them and celebrate every little milestone they’ve reached. And then there are days when the worry feels so heavy that I can’t sleep, and all I can do is pray.

This journey has stretched my heart in ways I never imagined. But through every hard day, tear, and prayer, one thing remains the same, I love these girls more than words can ever explain, and I’ll keep showing up for them every single day until the day we finally bring them home…

Two months ago, our lives changed in the most overwhelming and beautiful way. 💗

Today, as our twins turn 2 months old, my heart is full of gratitude for how far they’ve come. This journey hasn’t been easy, but watching them grow stronger each day and reach milestone after milestone makes every challenge worth it.

We’re not at the finish line just yet, but we’re getting closer every day.

Keep growing healthy and strong, my girls. Mommy and Daddy are so proud of you and can’t wait to finally bring you home. 💗

To our NICU doctors and nurses, thank you for caring for our babies as if they were your own. And to our family and friends, thank you for your endless love, prayers, and support since day one.

Two months down, and one day closer to home. 💗🙏🏻

𝟖 𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐤𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬, and every week reminds us that progress in the NICU comes one day at a time. Some milestones may seem small to others, but to us, they are answered prayers. We continue to trust God’s timing and celebrate every step forward, no matter how big or small.

- The twins have started bottle feeding using a preemie slow-flow bottle as an alternative to breastfeeding while they continue learning how to latch. They still try to breastfeed whenever possible, but their mouths are still quite small, and they are gradually learning how to feed more efficiently.
- Their milk feeds have also been increased, and thankfully, they are tolerating them well.
- Both Ellie and Millie have now reached 1,400 grams (1.4 kg). Seeing them grow, even little by little, continues to be one of our biggest blessings.
- Their Caffeine Citrate is now being given orally. As advised by their pediatrician, they will only continue taking their remaining supply, and no additional medication has been prescribed at this time.
- Human milk fortifier continues as part of their feeding plan. They have now progressed from half a sachet to one full sachet with their feeds to help support their growth and weight gain. We have also ordered another supply from our supplier in Manila to ensure they can continue receiving the nutrition they need.
- For those asking, they are still staying in the incubator as they continue to grow and learn how to regulate their body temperature on their own. The incubator helps keep them warm and supports their growth while they are still very small.
- Both twins had their repeat ROP screening. Ellie was diagnosed with Stage 1 ROP in her left eye and Stage 2 ROP in her right eye, and Millie was also diagnosed with Stage 1 ROP in her left eye and Stage 2 ROP in her right eye. Their ophthalmologist reassured us that, for now, they only need close weekly monitoring to see if the condition improves on its own or if treatment will be needed later on. We are praying and hoping for the best, that their eyes continue to develop well and that they will be blessed with healthy eyesight. 🙏🏻
- Continuous monitoring and follow-up checkups remain part of their NICU journey as we patiently wait for them to grow stronger each day.

As always, thank you to our family, friends, prayer warriors, and everyone who continues to check on, pray for, and support our twins. Your kindness, encouragement, and prayers continue to carry our family through this journey.

Please continue to pray for Millie & Ellie’s growth, healing, eyesight, and continued progress. We still do not know exactly when they will come home, but every day brings us one step closer to that moment. Mommy and Daddy cannot wait to finally have them in our arms all day, every day.

7 weeks with our little fighters, and this journey continues to teach us patience, strength, and faith. Some days are heavier than others, especially when progress feels slow, but Herson and I continue to hold on to hope and celebrate every small milestone the twins achieve.

This week was another reminder that NICU progress is not always linear, but we are grateful that our babies continue to fight through every challenge with so much strength.

- Both twins underwent blood transfusion this week due to anemia. Their neonatologist explained that this is common in premature babies because their bodies are still immature and may produce red blood cells more slowly at this stage, which can also affect their growth and energy levels.
- They also had repeat lab tests after the transfusion to closely monitor their blood levels.
- Ellie’s repeat lab results showed improvement after the transfusion
- Millie’s blood levels, which were previously low, are now also within a good range after her treatment and transfusion
- Both twins also had their repeat ROP screening as part of their continuous eye monitoring as preemies. More follow-up checkups and monitoring with their ophthalmologist will continue in the coming weeks.
- They have now started taking human milk fortifier every 6-hour feeding to help provide additional calories, protein, and nutrients needed for better growth and weight gain.
- They are also taking Heraclene to help support metabolism and improve appetite, as part of their ongoing nutritional support.
- Their weight has been mostly flat this past week, which honestly worried us at first, but their doctors reassured us that slow or delayed weight gain can still happen in premature babies, especially after transfusions and recent feeding adjustments. We continue to pray that their nutrition plan and improving feeds will help them slowly gain more weight in the coming weeks.
- Daily kangaroo mother care (KMC) and breastfeeding practice still continue. Seeing them slowly learn how to suck and respond more during feeds makes every exhausting day feel worth it
- We are also working closely with their doctors on feeding options to support their transition feeding as they grow stronger and prepare for home feeding in the future.

To everyone continuously praying for, checking on, and supporting our twins, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Every prayer, message, and act of kindness continues to carry us through this journey more than you know.

Please continue to pray for our little fighters’ steady growth, strength, and healing until the day we can finally bring them home, so mommy and daddy can finally take care of them and be with them 24/7.

It’s been another week with our little fighters, and our hearts are full seeing every small step they make. This NICU journey has not been easy, but it continues to teach us patience, strength, faith, and a kind of love we never knew could exist.

- Their feeding tubes have finally been removed. They have now started cup feeding little by little.
- Both twins gained weight last week and are now around 1.2kg each. Their length also increased from 38cm to 42cm. Although their weight has been unchanged for the past 3 days, we continue to pray for steady weight gain in the coming weeks.
- Their neonatologist added Heraclene, a medication that helps support metabolism and improve appetite, especially for premature babies who need extra nutritional support.
- We were also advised to get Prenan/Human Milk Fortifier, which adds extra calories, protein, vitamins, and nutrients to breastmilk to help premature and low birth weight babies grow and gain weight better.
- Unfortunately, it is not readily available in most retail drugstores or groceries and can only be bought through direct suppliers or from abroad. It is quite costly, but we know it will greatly help the twins’ growth and development.
- Thankfully, we were referred to a direct supplier in Manila and have already ordered 2 boxes for the twins. ETA is hopefully next week 🙏🏻
- We continue to do daily kangaroo mother care (KMC) and have also started trying to breastfeed them whenever possible. Their sucking is still slow since they are still learning, but I believe these little moments help them get used to breastfeeding and strengthen their feeding little by little.
- I’ve also been trying to visit them twice a day whenever time allows. Sometimes I visit early in the morning to spend at least 1–2 hours breastfeeding or doing KMC, then come back again in the afternoon for a few more hours. It can be physically exhausting, especially with two babies to breastfeed and do KMC with, but it is also one of the most rewarding parts of my day

Thank you so much to our family, friends, and everyone continuously praying for and supporting our twins. We continue to pray for their steady progress, healthy weight gain, and for the day they become strong enough to finally come home with us 💗🥰

What a sweet Mother’s Day surprise from my twins yesterday.

Thanks to their thoughtful NICU ate nurses for putting together this precious greeting for Mommy 💐💗

10/05/2026

Last night, I realized that Mother’s Day for a NICU mom looks a little different. It’s not waking up to snuggles or cuddling with your babies in bed. It’s going to the hospital, checking on them, and spending whatever time you can beside their incubators.

Still, I never once felt less of a mother. I’ve learned that being a mom does not stop just because your babies are in the NICU.

One of the hardest parts is doing kangaroo mother care for only 1–2 hours a day for each baby, then having to place them back in their incubators. It hurts even more when they’re awake while I’m leaving. Sometimes I wish they were already asleep before I go, even though I know they do not understand it yet.

If only I could always be there whenever they cry or feel uneasy, to comfort them, pat their tiny backs when they have hiccups, and talk to them in the little moments they are awake.

I never knew being a mom could feel this fulfilling. Just seeing them alive, growing, and slowly progressing is already enough to fill my heart.

We may not be in the ideal situation right now, but I am so grateful for my twins and so blessed to be their mom. Every day, I pray for their strength and for them to keep fighting.

To my little fighters, thank you for making me a mom. There is no greater gift than being yours 🥹💗

And to all the wonderful moms out there, Happy Mother’s Day. We carry a kind of love, strength, and sacrifice that only a mother can truly understand 💐
