MRSIA (Measles-Rubella Supplemental Immunization Activity)
What is MRSIA? MRSIA is a nationwide campaign that provides FREE Measles-Rubella (MR) vaccine to eligible children to protect them from measles (tigdas) and rubella (German measles).
Who should be vaccinated? All children 6β59 months old, regardless of their previous vaccination status.
Why is the MR vaccine important?
Protects children from measles and rubella.
Prevents severe complications such as pneumonia, diarrhea, brain infection (encephalitis), disability, and death caused by measles.
Prevents congenital rubella syndrome (CRS), which can cause birth defects if a pregnant woman becomes infected with rubella.
Helps prevent outbreaks and protects the whole community.
Is the vaccine safe? Yes. The MR vaccine is safe, effective, and approved by the Department of Health (DOH). Mild side effects such as pain at the injection site, slight fever, or a mild rash may occur and usually go away on their own.
What should parents bring?
Child's vaccination card (if available)
The child should be healthy enough for vaccination on the day of immunization.
Remember: Vaccination is one of the best ways to protect your child and the community from vaccine-preventable diseases. Join the MRSIA campaign and help keep every child healthy and protected.
