Seoul, South Korea – In a show of strong and continued support for Philippine food exports to South Korea, the Philippine delegation to Seoul Food 2025 led by the Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI) Philippine Trade and Investment Center in Seoul (PTIC-Seoul), called on Her Excellency Ambassador Theresa Dizon-De Vega at the Philippine Embassy in Korea on 9 June 2025.
During the meeting, Ambassador Dizon-De Vega expressed her appreciation for the delegation’s active participation in Seoul Food, one of Asia’s most prominent food and hospitality trade shows. She noted that the Philippines remains one of the most engaged country-participants in the event, with this year’s showcase placing a strong emphasis on coconut-based products alongside a diverse range of premium Filipino food offerings.
Ambassador De Vega, who may be attending her final Seoul Food in her current post, reaffirmed the Embassy’s continued support for Filipino MSMEs and the country’s efforts to expand its footprint in the Korean market. She also acknowledged recent economic developments in Korea, pointing to a more optimistic outlook. “With a more stable environment and renewed consumer and business confidence, we are hopeful that Seoul Food 2025 will be a good platform for our companies to showcase the quality of Philippine products,” Ambassador De Vega said.
During the courtesy visit, DTI representatives also presented an overview of Korea’s food market trends, including the rising demand for wellness products, online food trade, and ready-to-eat meals.
“The Korean market values quality, health and wellness, and smart packaging. We are confident that with the right partners, our products will be able to successfully pe*****te the Korean mainstream market,” PTIC-Seoul Commercial Attache Charmaine Mignon Yalong affirmed.
This year’s Seoul Food is led by PTIC-Seoul, in collaboration with the DTI Export Marketing Bureau and the Bureau of the Small and Medium Enterprise Development (BSMED), and supported by the Coconut Farmers & Industry Development Plan (CFIDP).
