Following the successful kickoff in Cagayan de Oro City last March, the Avian Influenza Protection Program (AIPP) officially conducted its second Information Caravan this year, held in Tacloban City, Leyte, last May 21, 2026. This initiative aimed to scale up public awareness and reinforce critical biosecurity measures against Avian Influenza (AI) across Eastern Visayas. The activity was carried out in close partnership with the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office VIII (DA-RFO VIII) and local government units.
In a strong showcase of collaboration, the event was attended by individual farmers, local government units, representatives from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), and various poultry stakeholder and cooperatives.
Throughout the day, participants engaged in comprehensive, expert-led sessions covering AI epidemiology, enhanced farm-level biosecurity practices, and regulatory protocols for the safe movement of avian species. Attendees also gained vital insights into the Bureau of Animal Industryโs (BAI) Livestock Distribution Programs and received the latest updates regarding Avian Influenza vaccination strategies.
By empowering communities, bridging the private and public sectors, and fostering inter-agency collaboration, the AIPP remains steadfast in safeguarding animal health, protecting livelihoods, and ensuring food security in the region.
