Does eating more protein damage your kidneys?
If you train regularly, track your macros, meal prep, or simply try to eat more protein, you have probably heard this warning before.
But for healthy adults without kidney disease, current research has not shown that higher protein intake causes kidney damage.
Yes, eating more protein can make your kidneys filter more blood. But increased filtration does not automatically mean kidney injury.
The important distinction is your current kidney health. If you have chronic kidney disease or reduced kidney function, your protein needs may be different and should be discussed with your doctor or registered dietitian.
At Macro Eats Manila, protein is more than a number on the label. We want you to understand what you are eating and why it matters, especially when you are choosing high-protein meals to support your training, body composition, or busy lifestyle.
