Learning Through Role-Play: Bringing Community Health Situations to Life

As part of the Strategic Planning and Capability-Building Workshop 2026, participants engaged in interactive role-play activities featuring real-life community health situations involving responsible parenthood, mental health, HIV/AIDS awareness, and rabies prevention and control.

Through these scenarios, participants explored the challenges faced by individuals and families, while highlighting the important role of community volunteers in providing accurate health information, compassionate support, appropriate guidance, and timely referral to health services.

These hands-on role-plays provided participants with an opportunity to learn, reflect, and strengthen their confidence in responding to situations they may encounter in their communities.

❤️ Learning becomes more meaningful when we experience it, reflect on it, and bring it into practice.

🌿ONGOING | STRATEGIC PLANNING AND CAPABILITY-BUILDING WORKSHOP 2026🌿

The Municipal Health Office of San Jose de Buan, under the leadership of Municipal Mayor Christal Jean R. Elizalde and Municipal Health Officer Dr. Phoebe Diaz Dela Cruz, is currently conducting the Strategic Planning and Capability-Building Workshop on Priority Public Health Programs, Environmental Health, and Health Information Systems at Jasmine Beach Resort, Marabut, Samar.

The activity brings together Municipal Health Office personnel, Punong Barangays, Barangay Health Workers (BHWs), Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNSs), Barangay Sanitary Inspectors (BSIs), community volunteers, and partner stakeholders in a meaningful learning, collaboration, team-building, and strategic planning activity.

As the workshop continues, participants are taking part in technical discussions, interactive public health program integration activities, team-building exercises, experience sharing, and strategic planning sessions aimed at strengthening their knowledge, skills, teamwork, and collaboration for the effective delivery of priority public health programs in the Municipality of San Jose de Buan.

The activity is also enriched by the valuable contributions of Hon. Narcissa D. Plana, Sangguniang Bayan Member on Health, Mr. Niño Dacanay Rebato, Resource Person, who discussed Introduction to Public Health, and Mr. Jan Andrei Siasat, Lead Facilitator, who guides the participants throughout the interactive sessions.

More than a series of sessions, this workshop provides an opportunity to learn, connect, collaborate, share experiences, and have fun while turning ideas into meaningful action for a healthier San Jose de Buan. 💚

The Municipal Health Office (MHO) of San Jose de Buan conducted the Maternal, Neonatal, Infant and Young Child Health and Nutrition (MNIYCHN) Training for Healthcare Workers on June 25–26, 2026, at Haiyan Hotel and Resort, Tanauan, Leyte.

The two-day learning activity provided our MHO Staff and Human Resources for Health (HRH) with an opportunity to deepen their knowledge and strengthen their skills in delivering essential health and nutrition interventions for mothers, newborns, infants, and young children. 👩‍🍼👶💙

Through this initiative, our health workers continue to equip themselves with the knowledge and competencies needed to provide responsive, quality, and people-centered care—from pregnancy and childbirth through the early years of a child’s life.

The activity was funded through the Philippine Multisectoral Nutrition Project (PMNP), with the support of the Local Government Unit (LGU) of San Jose de Buan, demonstrating our shared commitment to investing in the health and well-being of every mother and child in our community. 🤝

The Municipal Health Office (MHO) of San Jose de Buan successfully conducted the Interpersonal Communication (IPC) Skills Training for Health Workers on June 23–24, 2026, at Haiyan Hotel and Resort, Tanauan, Leyte.

The two-day training brought together our MHO Staff and Human Resources for Health (HRH) to enhance their communication skills, strengthen client-provider interactions, and promote more compassionate and effective health service delivery. 🩺🤝

This capacity-building activity was funded through the Philippine Multisectoral Nutrition Project (PMNP), with the support of the Local Government Unit (LGU) of San Jose de Buan, as part of our continuing commitment to strengthen our health workforce and improve the delivery of quality health services to our communities. 💙
