During a live interview on DZXL News 558 on 11 February 2026, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), through its spokesperson Atty. Khay Ann Magundayao-Borlado, discussed the continuing risks associated with counterfeit and unregistered medicines circulating in the market.
Atty. Magundayao-Borlado emphasized that counterfeit medicines may pose serious health dangers due to their unknown composition, lack of proper regulatory evaluation, and possible improper handling or storage. She reminded the public to remain cautious of products making misleading claims and medicines being sold at unusually low prices. The FDA spokesperson also clarified that the FDA, as a regulator, does not endorse or advertise products, and that the unauthorized use of the FDA logo or βπππ π’π±π±π³π°π·π¦π₯β claims is strictly prohibited.
The FDA encourages consumers to verify products through the FDA Verification Portal, purchase medicines only from FDA-licensed establishments, and report suspected counterfeit or unregistered health products via [email protected] or through the e-Sumbong reporting platform at www.fda.gov.ph. Informed and responsible purchasing decisions remain essential in protecting public health.
