MOVE MORE 🏃
Three out of four Filipino adolescents are not getting enough physical activity.
Based on the 2023 National Nutrition Survey of DOST-FNRI, around 75.5% of Filipino adolescents fall short of the recommended daily movement needed for health.
DOST-FNRI defines insufficient physical activity as doing less than 60 minutes of moderate-to-vigorous exercise per day.
This means many teens are not reaching the level of movement needed to support their physical health, energy, fitness, and long-term well-being.
The concern goes beyond sports or gym routines.
Physical inactivity, especially when combined with poor diet, can increase the risk of obesity and non-communicable diseases later in life.
The challenge is not only personal discipline. Many young people also need safe spaces to move, walkable communities, active school programs, supportive families, and community activities that make exercise accessible.
DOST-FNRI has encouraged Filipinos to include physical activity in daily routines and continues to promote projects that help teens move more.
For learners growing up in an increasingly digital world, health is not only about studying hard.
It is also about standing up, moving more, and building habits that protect the body for the future.
