Day 8 Tisoy Condiments Corporation was founded in the early part of 2013 by Mr. Danilo T. Cabahug. It was initially registered as a Sole Proprietorship business and on March 1, 2017, was converted to a Corporation with the entry of 49 investors.
The success of Day 8 Tisoy Condiments Corporation started with a failure. The founder, who is a former OFW Banker turned Entrepreneur, was turned down when he applied for distributorship of a leading spiced coconut vinegar because he could not afford the minimum order requirement. This rejection did not deter Mr. Cabahug but instead planted the dream in him to formulate his own brand of condiment. And this dream gave birth to the all-time favorite Sukang Tisoy. Mr. Cabahug concocted the first Sukang Tisoy in his kitchen using an empty local rhum bottle, red chili which he picked from his backyard, a couple of herbs and spices on hand and coconut nectar that he bought at Php5.00. He shared this as taste samples to his neighbors who were delighted by the perfect blend of flavors of Sukang Tisoy. His neighbors were also his first customers when they placed their orders after their free product was consumed.
Mr. Cabahug later on developed two (2) variants of the Sukang Tisoy, the Extra Hot and Mild Hot. Following the enthusiastic addition of the Sukang Tisoy in many home kitchens, came the Sweet Chili Sauce and Hot Sauce, probably the first of their kinds that are made of naturally aged coconut sap.
His fascination with coconut vinegar prodded him to conduct his own research on coconut sap. In the course of his research, he discovered that it contains both prebiotics and probiotics, in addition to the many essential vitamins, minerals and amino acids that have tremendous human benefits. This discovery supported the folklore told by his grandparents that freshly harvested coconut sap is a good substitute for baby formulas. It is believed to induce sleep and promote glowing skin on babies. Coconut sap is also low on Glycemic Index, hence, good for diabetic patients. Inspired all the more with this knowledge, he developed more products, the Kinilaw Mix, All-Natural Coconut Vinegar and the Coconut Cider Vinegar with Cinnamon, Rosemary and Tarragon.
