JUNE 02, 2026 || 2nd Quarter Planning, Monitoring, and Coordination Meeting on PuroKalusugan held at City Inn Hotel, Zamboanga Cityโœจ

The CDOHO successfully conducted the 2nd Planning, Monitoring, and Coordination Meeting on PuroKalusugan, bringing together all ZC District Focal Persons and the PuroKalusugan (PK) CHO Focal, Ms. Corazon V. Pagotaisidro and Mr. Michael Bolido to strengthen collaboration and ensure the effective implementation of PuroKalusugan initiatives across the city.

The meeting was facilitated by Ms. Stephanie Anne Yee (DMO) and Ms. Desirey P. Barro (HPO), who led the discussion on key accomplishments, challenges, and strategic directions for the program. A review of accomplishments during the previous calendar months was presented, highlighting the progress made in addressing priority health concerns within the identified Purok sites.

Among the major agenda discussed were the setting of targets and development of action plan for the succeeding implementation period, ensuring that all PK sites remain aligned with the program's goals and expected outcomes. The team also revisited the barangay spot map with purok parameters to guide the expansion of PuroKalusugan sites, enabling a more systematic approach in identifying priority areas and underserved communities.

The meeting served as an important platform for coordination, knowledge sharing, and planning, reinforcing the commitment of all stakeholders toward achieving healthier and more empowered communities through the PuroKalusugan strategy.

Through continued collaboration and strategic planning, the PuroKalusugan team remains dedicated to advancing community-based health initiatives and improving the overall well-being of the communities they serve.

๐ŸŒฟ PuroKalusugan Kick-Off Program | Barangay Talisayan ๐ŸŒฟ

The PuroKalusugan Kick-Off Program held on May 14, 2026 at Purok 6 DA, Barangay Talisayan was a successful endeavor, highlighting the eight priority health outcomes and bringing essential primary health care services closer to the community.

Residents benefited from free medical consultations and medicines, while various health promotion activities were conducted to raise awareness and encourage healthier lifestyles. In line with the observance of Road Safety Month and Cervical Cancer Awareness Months, informative discussions on road safety were led by the Peace and Order Committee through Hon. Alex Guerrero. Educational materials on sanitation and cervical cancer awareness were also distributed.

Health advocacies on Tuberculosis, Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), and Family Planning were shared by Maโ€™am Lenny Enriquez, while Immunization Awareness was discussed by our District Nurse, Sir Vincent Paul Alvarez. The activity also included a feeding program for children and special intermission numbers from the Talisayan staff.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the Barangay Council of Talisayan, our dedicated Medical Officer, District Nurse, Talisayan Midwife, PuroKalusugan Team, and the active participants of Purok 6 DA for their invaluable support and participation.

Together, we continue to build a healthier and stronger community through the Department of Health's PuroKalusugan Initiative, bringing quality primary health care services directly to the people and advancing the goal of Universal Health Careโ€”because every Filipino life matters and deserves to feel the impact of accessible government services.

The community of Sapa Moro, Barangay Latuan, successfully launched its PuroKalusugan (PK) Kick-Off Activity last May 14, 2026.

The initiative aimed to bring essential healthcare services, preventive medical assessments, and vital health education directly to the grassroots level, ensuring that quality healthcare reaches every member of the community.

The activity featured a series of informative and interactive health education sessions led by guest speakers. Sir Aldrich B. Arquiza discussed breast and cervical cancer awareness, emphasizing the importance of early detection and prevention. Ms. Belinda Gabito conducted a lecture on Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH), promoting healthy practices within households and the community. Personnel from Zamboanga City Police Station 2 also delivered a road safety awareness lecture to encourage responsible behavior and accident prevention among residents.

Under the leadership of Medical Officer IV, Dr. Bennajeeb S. Dammang, a wide range of free healthcare services was provided to residents of all ages. Maternal and Child Health services included routine immunization for infants aged 0โ€“11 months, prenatal check-ups for expectant mothers, and a supplemental feeding program for children aged 6โ€“59 months to support proper nutrition and growth. Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) screening services, including Random Blood Sugar (RBS) testing and PhilPEN risk assessments, were also conducted to identify individuals at risk of chronic diseases. In addition, free medical consultations and health check-ups were provided to community members.

The success of the activity was greatly attributed to the unwavering support of the Barangay Latuan Council, headed by Hon. Robin F. Perez. Barangay officials, kagawads, and tanods actively participated in the planning, coordination, and physical setup of the PuroKalusugan site, demonstrating their commitment to improving community health and well-being.

Overall, the PuroKalusugan Kick-Off Activity was highly successful, serving a total of 70 individuals who benefited from various health interventions and educational sessions. The event showcased the power of collaboration among healthcare workers, local government officials, law enforcement personnel, and community members in promoting better health outcomes and advancing the goals of Universal Health Care.

The Baluno PK Team sincerely expresses its deepest appreciation to everyone who helped make this activity possible.

We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the barangay officials, especially Hon. Capt. Jim Boy Pablo, and the Committee on Health headed by Hon. Councilor Haima Custodio, for their full support and commitment to this activity.

To all the participants and community members who actively took part in the various health programs and activities, thank you for your enthusiasm, cooperation, and active involvement. Your participation reflects our collective dedication to building a healthier, safer, and stronger community for everyone.

We would also like to thank our Barangay Midwife, Ma'am Hazel Duhaylungsod, for her unwavering support, as well as our dedicated BHWs and BNS for their valuable contributions to the success of this event.

The PuroKalusugan Kick-Off was successfully conducted in Sitio Guinuman, Tigbalabag, Zamboanga City last May 22, 2026.

The activity highlighted the power of community collaboration in reaching unserved and underserved areas by bringing comprehensive, accessible, and quality healthcare services closer to the people.

This initiative supports the implementation of Universal Health Care and reflects the Department of Healthโ€™s commitment to ensuring that no community is left behind. A total of 45 individuals participated in the activity and benefited from various primary healthcare services offered through PuroKalusugan, including immunization, maternal health services, tuberculosis control, nutrition programs, non-communicable disease prevention and control, road safety promotion, and environmental sanitation services.

The activity is aligned with the Departmentโ€™s 8-Point Action Agenda and its vision of โ€œEvery Filipino Feels Health.โ€ Through the New Philippines, healthcare continues to reach communities where it is needed mostโ€”because Every Life Matters. ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’š

The Brgy. Talabaan PuroKalusugan Team - a collaborative effort between Talabaan LGU, CHO and DOH, officially implemented the PuroKalusugan Initiative at Zone 3- Bactus, Talabaan last May 18, 2026.

The health services extended during the activity included Nutritional and NCD assessments, Consultation, Prenatal, Immunization, Family Planning, PhilHealth Yakap Profiling, Feeding activity and health promotion on WASH and TB.

The PK initiative was further enhanced through the active involvement of UZ Nursing Students in providing assistance in all health services available under the supervision of their clinical instructor.

We sincerely acknowledge the valuable contributions of our Brgy. LGU headed by our supportive Brgy. Capt. Hon. Usman Pingli, our active kagawad on health Hon. Felixberto Angeles, our community partners- IPMR, the purok/tribal leaders, our Mercedes District Team guided by Dr. Wilbur S. Natividad and our Dist. Nurse Ma'am Vivian Lubaton, to sir Karl Mathew to co-HRH Mariam Saha and Daisy Manalansan lead by East Cluster TL RV Lubaton, Healthcare Workers and BNS of Brgy. Talabaan supervised by Ma'am Nova Pelinggon. Special thanks to the police detachment personnel at Bactus for providing security. And to our community volunteers who generously shared their time, effort, and resources to ensure the success of this initiative.
