✨ First Duodenojejunostomy for SMA Syndrome at Allama Iqbal Teaching Hospital, Dera Ghazi Khan.

A Significant Surgical Milestone

First Duodenojejunostomy for Superior Mesenteric Artery Syndrome at Allama Iqbal Teaching Hospital, Dera Ghazi Khan.

A 17-year-old female presented with progressive postprandial fullness, intolerance to oral intake, and significant weight loss of approximately 20 kg over two months, declining from 49 kg to 29 kg.

Her clinical course was complicated by two previous exploratory laparotomies at DHQ Hospital, without identification of the underlying pathology.

Following a comprehensive clinical history, detailed physical examination, and appropriate radiological assessment, a diagnosis of Superior Mesenteric Artery (SMA) Syndrome was established.

After careful surgical planning, the patient underwent Duodenojejunostomy, performed with meticulous technique and precision.

This represents the first Duodenojejunostomy for SMA Syndrome performed at Allama Iqbal Teaching Hospital, Dera Ghazi Khan, marking an important achievement for Surgical Unit II and reflecting the unit's commitment to accurate diagnosis, evidence-based surgical decision-making, and excellence in patient care.
