CEO, Aga Khan Health Service, Syed Nadeem Husain Abbas, inaugurated a state-of-the-art Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Aga Khan Hospital Gilgit.
The new 5-bed ICU expands access to life-saving treatment when it matters most. It includes a 2-bed general ICU providing comprehensive care for critically ill patients requiring continuous monitoring and multi-organ support, supported by essential life-support systems such as ventilators and patient monitors. This unit plays a critical role in stabilizing patients and managing complex medical and post-surgical cases.
It also features a 3-bed Cardiac Care Unit (CCU) dedicated to heart-related emergencies, equipped with specialized cardiac monitoring (ECG, pacing, echocardiography) and capable of delivering rapid, life-saving interventions, including defibrillation and clot-dissolving treatment—ensuring timely care for conditions such as heart attacks and irregular heart rhythms.
Supported by specialized medical teams, the facility ensures round-the-clock, high-quality care—from emergency response to recovery.
