While inauguration of Government of Pakistan's Hepatitis Screening Site in Dr.Akbar Niazi Teaching Hospital, the Project Director of the Prime Minister’s National Program for the elimination of Hepatitis in Pakistan Dr. Zia Ullah Khan Dawar said that designation of ANTH as the focal point for hepatitis screening and tretamemt was important for bringing essential detection services closer to those who need them most.

He expressed that ANTH's catchment area extends across Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galyat, AJK and major parts of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, enabling the institution to utilize its advanced infrastructure for the large-scale delivery of decentralized diagnostics.

At its core, this step elevates early detection from a limited-service provision to a fundamental right, ensuring equitable health access for every individual.

ڈاکٹر اکبر نیازی ٹیچنگ ہسپتال میں ہیپاٹائٹس سی (کالا یرقان) کے مریضوں کے لیے تشخیصی ٹیسٹ، علاج اور ادویات کی مفت سہولت فراہم کی جا رہی ہے۔

ہیپاٹائٹس سی ایک قابلِ علاج بیماری ہے، تاہم بروقت تشخیص اور مناسب علاج نہ ہونے کی صورت میں یہ صحت کے لیے سنگین پیچیدگیوں کا باعث بن سکتی ہے۔ اس لیے ضروری ہے کہ بیماری کی ممکنہ علامات یا خطرے کی صورت میں بلا تاخیر ٹیسٹ کروایا جائے اور مستند طبی ماہرین سے رہنمائی حاصل کی جائے۔

Watch highlights of the event in which Dr. Akbar Niazi Teaching Hospital was officially inaugurated as the Primary Hepatitis Screening Site under the Prime Minister’s National Program for the Elimination of Hepatitis C.

Inaugurated by Project Director of the PM's Hepatitis Elimination Program Dr. Zia Ullah Khan Dawar, this screening site marks a strategic expansion of the Federal Health Ministry's Hepatitis Screening drive, aimed at bridging the critical gap where current diagnosis rates languish at a mere 25–30% against an estimated 9 million HCV cases.

With ANTH's catchment area covering Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galyat, as we'll as major parts of Punjab, AJK and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the hospital is leveraging its advanced infrastructure to deliver decentralized diagnostics at scale.

As we align with the 2030 hepatitis elimination targets, this partnership underscores that community engagement is not optional. It is essential. Now is the moment to Accelerate Action, Expand Access, and Ensure no population is left behind.
