Fair inquiry is need of time.
Strong Response to PMA–KP
PRESS STATEMENT
The Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s press release against a nurse who has raised serious allegations regarding the administration of Hayatabad Medical Complex is deeply disappointing, one-sided, and highly condemnable.
Instead of supporting a fair, transparent, and independent investigation into the allegations, PMA has chosen to issue a press release declaring the allegations “baseless” and threatening legal action against the nurse. This raises a serious question: If the allegations are truly baseless, why is PMA afraid of an independent judicial inquiry?
The nurse has the right to raise concerns and seek justice. A nurse must not be silenced, intimidated, or threatened merely for speaking about alleged wrongdoing. The allegations should be investigated through a transparent and impartial process—not dismissed through a press release.
We strongly demand the immediate establishment of an independent Judicial Inquiry Commission, headed by a serving or retired High Court Judge, to thoroughly investigate:
The allegations raised by the nurse;
The circumstances surrounding her relieving and subsequent administrative actions;
The previous and subsequent inquiries conducted in the matter;
Any alleged abuse of authority, harassment, victimization, or administrative irregularities;
The role of all concerned officials, regardless of their position or profession.
We fully support the nurse’s right to speak, raise concerns, and seek justice through lawful means.
The PMA should remember that professional solidarity must never become a shield for alleged wrongdoing, nor should any professional organization act as a defender of individuals before an impartial investigation has established the facts.
It is shameful and unfortunate that, instead of demanding a fair inquiry, the PMA has seemingly chosen to defend the administration and attack the person who has raised the allegations. No professional association should become a voice for alleged mafias, vested interests, or powerful groups.
We demand truth, transparency, accountability, and justice,not pressure, intimidation, threats, or one-sided statements.
Let an independent Judicial Inquiry Commission be established. Let the truth come out. If the allegations are false, the inquiry will prove them false. If they are true, those responsible must be held accountable.
We stand with the nurse. We stand for justice. We stand for an impartial inquiry.
