Federal Medical College Islamabad proudly participated in the Digital Examination Management System (DEMS) Workshop organized by Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University (SZABMU) as part of the University's vision to modernize and strengthen its examination system through digital transformation.

The workshop was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Afsheen Mansoor, Controller of Examinations, with compliance oversight by Dr. Tanseer Asghar, Registrar, SZABMU. We are pleased to share that our respected Principal, ❤️Prof. Dr. Shemaila Saleem❤️, represented Federal Medical College Islamabad in this important academic initiative alongside the principals of other affiliated institutions.

Beginning in 2026, SZABMU will implement the Digital Examination Management System for all undergraduate and postgraduate examinations across its constituent and affiliated institutions. This landmark initiative reflects the University's commitment to promoting transparency, efficiency, accuracy, and technology-driven excellence in the examination process.

Federal Medical College Islamabad remains committed to supporting innovative academic reforms and embracing digital advancements that enhance the quality of medical education and assessment.

FEDERAL MEDICAL COLLEGE (FMC) ORGANIZED AN INTERACTIVE SESSION ON “MENTORSHIP SKILLS FOR FACULTY DEVELOPMENT.

PROF. DR. JUNAID SARFARAZ KHAN LEADS INSIGHTFUL SESSION, GUIDES FACULTY ON EFFECTIVE MENTORSHIP.

The Mentorship Committee 2026, Federal Medical College (FMC), Islamabad, under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Shemaila Saleem, Principal, Federal Medical College, successfully organized an interactive faculty development session on "Mentorship Skills" on 29th June 2026 at Federal Medical College (FMC), Islamabad.

The session was delivered by Prof. Dr. Junaid Sarfraz Khan, Rector, Director Academic, Professor of Medical Education, Breast Oncoplastic Surgeon, and Dean, School of Health Professionals' Education Research & Entrepreneurship, who shared valuable insights into the principles and best practices of effective mentorship. Drawing upon his extensive academic and professional experience, he guided faculty members on building meaningful mentor–mentee relationships, fostering professional growth, enhancing academic leadership, and promoting a culture of continuous learning within medical education.

The workshop was organized by Dr. Sanaila Gul Sana, Chairperson, Mentorship Committee/ Assistant Professor, whose continued efforts reflect the committee's commitment to promoting structured mentorship across the institution.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dr. Shemaila Saleem, Principal, Federal Medical College, appreciated the initiative of the Mentorship Committee and reaffirmed the institution's commitment to advancing academic excellence through faculty empowerment, leadership development, and evidence-based mentoring practices.

Prof. Dr. Tanwir Khaliq, Vice Chancellor, Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University (SZABMU) graced the occasion and also shared his view on “Mentorship Skills” and guided the participants.

The interactive session concluded with active participation from faculty members, who appreciated the practical guidance and engaging discussions. The workshop marks another significant step in FMC's ongoing commitment to cultivating a supportive academic environment, enhancing teaching excellence, and promoting professional development through effective mentorship.

PIMS Hospital Introduces Advanced American Cardiac Technology

Islamabad: A major milestone has been achieved in Pakistan's cardiovascular healthcare. PIMS Hospital, Islamabad, has become the first hospital in the country to introduce advanced cardiac technology developed by Boston Scientific (USA).

This innovative technology is designed to treat irregular heart rhythms (arrhythmias) using high-speed electrical pulses. According to experts, it allows for more precise treatment of the affected areas of the heart, making the procedure safer, reducing recovery time, and improving access to timely care.

The technology has been introduced in Pakistan through collaboration between the United States and Pakistan's healthcare sector, in partnership with Ferozsons Laboratories. This initiative will enable patients in Pakistan to benefit from world-class cardiac treatment closer to home.

U.S. officials described this achievement as an excellent example of Pakistan–United States cooperation in healthcare, emphasizing that the combination of American innovation and Pakistani medical expertise directly benefits patients.

The introduction of this advanced technology at PIMS Hospital marks an important milestone for Pakistan's healthcare system, particularly at a time when cardiovascular diseases are on the rise and the need for safe, effective, and modern treatment has never been greater.

For the past two years, the Young Doctors Association has been advocating for an increase in the salaries of House Officers (HOs) and TMOs through various platforms and organizations.

Unfortunately, it feels as though our concerns are either not reaching the higher authorities, or perhaps our value is only recognized when protests take place.

We, the medical students from first year MBBS to final year MBBS, along with House Officers and TMOs, request everyone to unite for a Twitter trend tomorrow after Maghrib prayer at 7:15 PM regarding the increase in our salaries.

We request all medical pages and student platforms to post and support this campaign so that our voice reaches the Honorable Prime Minister, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, President Of Pakistan and the concerned authorities.

Our demand is completely justified. Our duties and workload are far beyond our capacity, yet our salaries remain insufficient.

We need your support and unity. Together, our voice can make a difference.

پمز وائی ڈی اے ایگزیکٹو کیبینٹ کی جانب سے آج ایک بھر پور احتجاج پمز کے احاطے میں انعقاد کیا گیا جس کا واضح موقف تھا کے پی جی آر کی 7سال سے مہنگائ میں اضافے کے ساتھ ساتھ تنخواہ نہ بڑھنا تھا اور یہ کہ 5 سالوں میں پی ایم آفس کی جانب سے یہ تیسری درخواست ٹوکری کے نظر ہونے جا رہی ہے۔ دوسرا آئے روز مریضوں کی تعداد میں اضافہ ہونے کے باوجود ڈاکٹروں کی کمی کو پورا نہ کرنا۔ اسی اثناء میں آج کے احتجاج کے ساتھ ساتھ کچھ گھنٹوں کی او پی ڈی کا بائیکاٹ کیا گیا اور پیر والے دن سے مکمل او پی ڈی سے بائیکاٹ کرنے کا اعلان کیا ہے جبکہ ایمرجنسی سروسز جاری رہیں گی اور یہ احتجاج تنخواہ کے نا بڑھنے تک جاری رہے گا۔ اسی لیے وائی ڈی اے بھر پور مطالبہ کرتی ہے فیلڈ مارشل سید جنرل عاصم منیر سے اور پی ایم شہباز شریف سے کہ ڈاکٹروں کے سال ہا سال سے جاری استحصال کو ختم کیا جائے اور ہماری داد رسی کی جائے تاکہ ڈاکٹروں کی خوشحالی مریضوں کی خوشحالی کا سبب بنے اور اپنا کام مزید لگن سے سر انجام دے سکیں
