The World Clinical Trials Day Exploratory Session concluded with thoughtful reflections from Syed Munawar Ali and Asim Munir, who shared their closing perspectives on the future of clinical research in Pakistan.

While acknowledging the challenges around infrastructure, talent development, regulatory processes, and research culture, both speakers emphasized that Pakistan possesses many of the fundamental ingredients required to strengthen its clinical trials ecosystem.

The discussion ended on a hopeful note: that clinical trials are not merely a research activity, but a pathway towards better patient outcomes, stronger healthcare systems, scientific advancement, and greater global participation for Pakistan.

02/06/2026

As the World Clinical Trials Day Exploratory Session moved from operational realities to future possibilities, two important questions were explored by Syed Munawar Ali and Asim Munir.

What economic opportunity does the clinical trials industry present for Pakistan?

And,

How can the growth of clinical trials accelerate innovation in therapeutics and improve the future of patient care?

01/06/2026

As the World Clinical Trials Day Exploratory Session progressed, the discussion moved beyond regulations and infrastructure to a fundamental question: does Pakistan have the people and the capacity to support a growing clinical trials ecosystem?

Responding to questions, Asim Munir shared his perspective on the readiness of the country's research workforce, the skills required to support clinical research at scale, and the importance of developing specialized talent if clinical trials are to become a stronger component of Pakistan's healthcare landscape.

Adding another important dimension to the discussion, Syed Munawar addressed a critical question:

How can Pakistan effectively manage the mix of urban and rural research sites when most clinical trials today remain concentrated in major cities?

A thoughtful discussion on what it will take to make clinical research more scalable, inclusive, and impactful in Pakistan.

A practical conversation on building the foundations required for the future of clinical research in Pakistan.
