🌍 ابھرتی ہوئی متعدی بیماریوں سے نمٹنے کے لیے "ون ہیلتھ" اپروچ ناگزیر قرار
پاکستان میں ابھرتی ہوئی متعدی بیماریوں، وباؤں اور صحت کے بڑھتے ہوئے خطرات سے مؤثر انداز میں نمٹنے کے لیے ماہرین نے "ون ہیلتھ" (One Health) اپروچ اپنانے پر زور دیا ہے، جس کے تحت انسانی صحت، جانوروں کی صحت اور ماحولیات کو ایک مربوط نظام کے طور پر دیکھا جاتا ہے۔
ماہرین کے مطابق نئی وبائیں اور انفیکشنز کسی ایک شعبے تک محدود نہیں رہتے، اس لیے صحت، لائیو اسٹاک، فوڈ سیفٹی، ماحولیات اور پالیسی ساز اداروں کے درمیان مضبوط تعاون وقت کی اہم ضرورت ہے۔
اس حوالے سے منعقدہ سیمینار میں شرکا نے اس بات پر زور دیا کہ بروقت نگرانی، مربوط ڈیٹا شیئرنگ اور مشترکہ حکمت عملی کے ذریعے مستقبل کی وباؤں کے خطرات کو کم کیا جا سکتا ہے۔

The Health Services Academy, in collaboration with Ayub Medical College (AMC), successfully organized a one-day advocacy seminar on “Role of One Health for Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases” at Ayub Medical College, Abbottabad.

The event was graced by Prof. Dr. Irfanuddin Khattak, Dean & CEO, Medical Teaching Institution, Ayub Medical College, as the Chief Guest. The seminar featured valuable insights from Prof. Dr. Tariq Mahmood Ali, National Coordinator, OHWD Project, Dr. S.M. Mursalin, CEO POHA, and Prof. Dr. Umer Farooq, Department of Community Medicine, Ayub Medical College along with other experts and senior representatives from the health, livestock, food safety, environmental, and planning sectors to strengthen intersectoral collaboration for improved disease prevention, detection, and response.

The gathering reaffirmed the importance of coordinated action across human, animal, and environmental health sectors to enhance pandemic readiness, strengthen health security, and build resilient systems for the future.

We were delighted to host Dr Numair Masud from Cardiff University, UK for a “Meet the Expert” session as part of our Postgraduate Diploma in One Health & Pandemic Preparedness.

The session provided valuable insights into the impact of plastic pollution on aquatic environments through a One Health lens, highlighting global challenges, evidence-based mitigation strategies, and the importance of collaborative action for environmental and public health. It was an enriching learning experience for our students.
