**What is Osteochondroma? (a harmless bone lump or extra bone growth) 🦴**

Ever noticed a painless bump near a bone? It could be something called **osteochondroma** — the most common type of non-cancerous (benign) bone growth.

👉 It usually appears near the ends of long bones like the knee, shoulder, or hip.
👉 Most often develops during childhood or teenage years.
👉 In many cases, it doesn’t cause pain and is found by chance.

**Should you worry?**
Most osteochondromas are harmless and don’t need treatment. But keep an eye out for:
⚠️ Pain or swelling
⚠️ Rapid growth after puberty
⚠️ Numbness or tingling nearby

If you notice these signs, it’s important to see a specialist doctor.

**Treatment 🏥**
No treatment is needed unless it causes symptoms. In some cases, a simple surgery can remove it.

**Bottom line:**
Not every lump is dangerous—but every unusual change in your body deserves attention.

Stay aware. Stay informed. 💙

🦴 What is an Enchondroma? (A Simple Guide for Everyone)

Ever heard of a bone tumor that isn’t cancer? That’s where enchondroma comes in.

👉 An enchondroma is a non-cancerous (benign) growth that develops inside the bone, usually in the hands or feet.

🔍 Key things to know:
• Most people don’t even know they have it 😲
• Often found by accident on an X-ray
• Usually painless — unless it causes a fracture
• Common in young adults

⚠️ When to pay attention:
• Persistent pain in a finger, hand, or foot
• Swelling or unusual bone shape
• A fracture after a minor injury

🩺 Is it dangerous?
In most cases, NO. Enchondromas are harmless. But doctors may monitor them to make sure they don’t grow or cause problems.

💡 Treatment?
• No treatment needed in many cases
• Surgery only if it causes pain, fractures, or shows unusual changes

🇵🇰 Why this matters in Pakistan:
Many people ignore bone pain or rely on home remedies. Early checkups can prevent complications and unnecessary fear.

Not every “tumor” is cancer. Awareness saves stress and helps you make better health decisions.

Early diagnosis and treatment can protect both your mobility and quality of life.

I specialize in bone and soft tissue tumors, with a focus on breast cancer that spreads to the bones. My goal is to help patients live longer, stronger, and more active lives. For Appointments:

🦴 AC Joint Dislocation? Here's a Modern Fix! 💥

AC joint injuries are common in athletes and after falls. When severe, they can cause pain, shoulder deformity, and limited range of motion.

One of the most effective surgical options today is reconstruction using fiber tape and a dog bone button. 🎯

✅ Minimally invasive
✅ Strong fixation
✅ Faster recovery
✅ Restores stability

This technique mimics the function of native ligaments and helps patients get back to their active lives with confidence!

"How an Improper Biopsy Compromised Limb Salvage"

A 14-year-old patient with distal femur osteosarcoma underwent an improperly performed biopsy at an outside hospital. The biopsy was done through an unusually large incision, anteriorly through the quadriceps tendon. We initially aimed to salvage the limb with a mega prosthesis and excision of the incision and underlying tissues, as the vasculature was spared by the tumor and MRI findings were encouraging. As a backup, we had counseled the family on the possibility of an amputation. Upon opening the leg, we discovered hemorrhagic fluid within the joint and extensive involvement of the quadriceps tendon by the tumor, necessitating a conversion to an amputation after consulting the parents. This case highlights how a poorly conducted biopsy can obstruct limb salvage.
