Mammography Guidelines / Precautions (Patient Information)

🔹 Age should be 35 years or above for a mammography examination.

🔹 Take a bath and clean the underarm area before coming for the test.

🔹 Do not use powder, perfume, deodorant, lotion, or any fragrance products before the examination.

🔹 Wear loose and comfortable clothing on the day of the test.

🔹 Mammography is not recommended during pregnancy. It is also advisable to avoid scheduling the test during the week before or immediately after menstruation.

🔹 Tie your hair properly before the procedure.

🔹 Bring all previous medical records, reports, films, and photocopies related to breast examinations.

🔹 Patients who have difficulty standing for a long time are advised to bring an attendant for assistance.

Ultrasound Preparation Guidelines – Dow Institute of Radiology

To ensure accurate ultrasound results, please follow the instructions below before your appointment:

🔹 Fasting Required (6–8 Hours) For:

Whole Abdomen
Upper Abdomen
Liver & Gall Bladder
Renal Doppler

🔹 Drink 8–12 Glasses of Water and Maintain a Full Bladder For:

Whole Abdomen
KUB (Kidneys, Ureters & Bladder)
Prostate
Pre-Void & Post-Void Scan
Pelvis
Lower Abdomen
Early Pregnancy (1–3 Months)
Fetal Well-Being (FWB), Placenta Localization, NT Scan & Growth Scan

🔹 Special Ultrasound Examinations
Brain Ultrasound: For infants aged 0–6 months only.
Fetal Anomaly Scan: Recommended between 18–24 weeks of pregnancy.

Hip Ultrasound: For infants aged 0–6 weeks only.

📌 Prescribed medications may be taken as advised by your physician. 📌 A physician’s referral/prescription is mandatory for ultrasound examinations. 📌 Please bring all previous reports and relevant medical records.
