Proud Moment for Pakistan 🇵🇰

The Pakistan Endocrine Society congratulates our Past-President, Dr. S. Abbas Raza, on his significant global contribution.

He helped develop the world’s first consensus recommendations on smoking cessation for individuals with type 2 diabetes.

Published in Diabetes Research and Clinical Practice by the DiaSmokeFree Working Group, this landmark work brings together 35 leading specialists from 13 countries across 5 continents.

Key Takeaways:
• Not Optional: Smoking is a major modifiable risk factor; quitting is a critical lifestyle change that must be prioritized at every consultation.
• Equal Priority: Smoking cessation deserves the same clinical focus as managing glucose, blood pressure, and lipids.
• Best Approach: Combines pharmacotherapy with intensive behavioural support and regular tracking.

First initiated in 2022 by CoEHAR, this initiative closes a crucial gap in global diabetes care.
