Leukemia
Leukemia is a type of blood cancer that starts in the bone marrow, where blood cells are made.
In leukemia, the body produces abnormal white blood cells in large amounts. These cells don’t work properly and crowd out normal blood cells.
What this causes:
Low red blood cells → tiredness, weakness (anemia)
Low normal white blood cells → frequent infections
Low platelets → easy bleeding or bruising
Main types of leukemia:
Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) – fast-growing
Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) – fast-growing
Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) – slow-growing
Chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) – slow-growing
Common symptoms:
Fever or frequent infections
Fatigue and weakness
Weight loss
Swollen lymph nodes
Easy bleeding or bruising
It can affect both children and adults, and treatment may include chemotherapy, targeted therapy, radiation, or bone marrow transplant, depending on the type.

*Phlebostatic axis*

The anatomical reference point use to accurately position pressure transducer for monitoring hemodynamic pressure

*Location:>* fourth intercostal space at mid anterior posterior daimeter of chest wall

*Function:>* it is the zero point for leveling the transducer to ensure accurate pressure readings

>To measure the CVP the transducer must be placed at a standard reference point called phlebostatic axis
