Today, 9th April 2026 the Autism Unit, KDA Campus SIPM&R, proudly celebrated Autism Awareness Day.
This day reminds us that every child is unique, with their own strengths, challenges, and a beautiful way of perceiving the world. As therapists, educators, and parents, our responsibility is not to change them, but to understand, support, and empower them.
Early intervention, consistent guidance, and compassionate parenting are key in helping individuals with autism grow into confident and independent members of society. Through patience, tolerance, and kindness, we can build an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and accepted.
Let us continue to spread awareness, encourage acceptance, and celebrate differences—because every mind matters, and every voice deserves to be heard.
“Different, not less.”

This video provides a brief overview of the step-by-step approach toward ADL independence through an integrated rehabilitation model. It highlights the Therapeutic Activities Training (TAT) Lab, where students learn to design and apply customized adaptive devices through hands-on practice, strengthening clinical skills and creativity. It also demonstrates the Advanced ADL Training Area, where clients are trained in functional daily tasks using specialized utensils, boards, and assistive devices. The process is further supported by task-oriented, fun-based activities to enhance motivation, participation, and overall independence.

Workshop Title: Management of Spasticity – A Holistic Approach
Organized by: Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, SIPMR
Facilitator: Prof Leonard SW Li
As part of the 8th International PMR Summit held on 14 February 2026, the Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation successfully conducted an insightful and hands-on workshop on 13-2-26, titled “Management of Spasticity – A Holistic Approach.”
The session began with a comprehensive one-hour lecture covering the pathophysiology and causes of spasticity, followed by an in-depth discussion on multidisciplinary management strategies. Special emphasis was placed on the role of Botulinum toxin injections in focal spasticity management, including patient selection, dosing principles, goal setting, and outcome measures.
Following the lecture, participants observed a live clinical demonstration on a patient with spasticity, which enhanced their understanding of assessment techniques and functional goal planning. This was followed by a simulator-based demonstration where Dr. Leonard illustrated ultrasound-guided identification of target muscles and accurate localization of injection sites. The session highlighted anatomical landmarks, sonoanatomy, and precision techniques essential for safe and effective intervention.
Key highlights included an evidence-based overview of spasticity management, focused discussion on Botulinum toxin therapy, live patient demonstration, ultrasound-guided muscle identification on simulator, and active participant engagement through interactive discussion.
The workshop successfully combined theoretical knowledge with practical skill development, reinforcing the importance of a holistic, goal-oriented, and multidisciplinary approach in spasticity management.
