When CFers Take the Stage — Their Stories Matter 💙

Beyond the scientific discussions and expert presentations, one of the most powerful moments at Beyond Bronchiectasis: Expanding the Spectrum of Airway Disease was hearing directly from people living with Cystic Fibrosis.

Five members of the CF community — Abdul Mussawir Memon Abdul Mussawir Memon , CF Patient Advocate; Mr. Rizwan Mukati; Ms. Raheema Arbi Raheema ; Ms. Fatima Ragadia; and Mr. Faizan Punjwani — joined the forum and courageously shared their struggles, experiences, challenges and journeys living with CF.

Accompanied by Dr. Muhammad Fareeduddin and Ms. Tooba Seemi, their presence brought something beyond medical knowledge to the discussion: the patient perspective.

Their stories were a powerful reminder that behind every diagnosis, statistic and treatment plan is a person, a family and a journey.

We are deeply proud of every CFer who found the courage to speak, share and represent the CF community. Your voices matter. Your experiences matter. And your journeys can inspire change.

Beyond Bronchiectasis: Expanding the Spectrum of Airway Disease

Today, Dr. Muhammad Fareeduddin, HOD Pediatrics & Lead of the Cystic Fibrosis Program at Indus Hospital & Health Network, represented the CF community as a speaker at Beyond Bronchiectasis: Expanding the Spectrum of Airway Disease, organized by The Pulmonary Forum (TPF) at PC Hotel, Karachi on 30 August 2026.

Dr. Fareeduddin highlighted the evolving landscape of Cystic Fibrosis, its diagnosis, management, and the importance of comprehensive multidisciplinary care, bringing the perspective of the CF program at Indus Hospital to a forum of leading respiratory specialists.

He was accompanied by Ms.Tooba Seemi, CF Coordinator, and five members of the CF community including Abdul Mussawir Memon, CF Patient Advocate who courageously shared their lived experiences and journeys with CF.

We extend our appreciation to The Pulmonary Forum and its organizers — Dr. Uzma, Dr. Avishan, Dr. Tajamul, Dr. Shakeel, and the entire team behind TPF — for organizing an insightful and timely scientific forum.

An insightful session on Cystic Fibrosis: Genetics, Diagnosis & Management was delivered by Dr. Muhammad Fareeduddin, providing valuable insights into the genetic basis, diagnostic approach, and modern management of CF.

The session was organized by PSIG at Jinnah Medical & Dental College on Monday, 24 August 2026.

🧬 A Milestone for Cystic Fibrosis Research in Pakistan.

We are pleased to share that Dr. Muhammad Fareeduddin’s & Dr Javeria's article, “Operationalizing Accreditation Standards for Laboratory-Developed Next-Generation Sequencing Validation of CFTR Amplicon-Based Assays,” has been published in Laboratory Medicine Journal.

This marks the first paper on Cystic Fibrosis (CF) published from Indus Hospital & Health Network, representing an important milestone in advancing CF research, genetic diagnostics, and precision medicine in Pakistan.

This work highlights the importance of robust, standardized, and accredited approaches to CFTR genetic testing—an essential step toward improving diagnostic accuracy and advancing precision care for individuals with cystic fibrosis.

Congratulations, Dr. Fareeduddin, on this valuable contribution to the field! 👏
