It is a matter of great pride to announce the inauguration of the Oral & Maxillofacial Cancer Clinic, along with a Multidisciplinary Tumor Board and Patient Counseling Facility, at Allama Iqbal Medical College / Jinnah Hospital, Lahore.

The facility was inaugurated by Prof. Tayyiba Wasim, Principal AIMC, and Prof. Hafiz Moeen-ud-Din, Medical Superintendent JHL.

This important public-sector initiative is in line with the vision of Hon’ble Chief Minister Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, to strengthen healthcare services and ensure accessible, quality and patient-centered care for the people of Punjab.

The clinic provides a comprehensive continuum of oral cancer care, including early detection, diagnostic evaluation and biopsy, multidisciplinary treatment planning, definitive management, palliative care and compassionate patient counseling in a dedicated setting.

The establishment and development of this dedicated cancer clinic has been made possible through the vision, dedication and tireless efforts of Dr. Gulraiz Zulfiqar, HOD Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, whose commitment has played a pivotal role in bringing this initiative to fruition.

A significant step towards early diagnosis, coordinated cancer care and better outcomes for patients at Jinnah Hospital Lahore.

Allama Iqbal Medical College deeply mourns the passing of Prof. Dr. Riaz Ahsan Siddique (1942–2026), distinguished ENT surgeon and former Principal of AIMC.

Prof. Dr. Riaz Ahsan Siddique served as Principal, Allama Iqbal Medical College, from 06-02-1998 to 15-12-1998.

A highly respected clinician, teacher and academician, he rendered valuable services to the medical profession and to Allama Iqbal Medical College. His contributions to medical education, patient care and the institution will remain a part of AIMC’s history.

His passing is a profound loss to the medical community, his colleagues, students and all those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Allama Iqbal Medical College pays tribute to his distinguished service and enduring legacy.

May Allah Almighty grant him the highest place in Jannat-ul-Firdous and give strength and patience to his family, colleagues, students and loved ones. Ameen.

The Department of Psychiatry, Allama Iqbal Medical College, formally inaugurated the Student Counselling Cell at Jinnah Hospital Lahore. The cell was inaugurated by Prof. Tayyiba Wasim, Principal AIMC, marking an important step towards promoting mental well-being and emotional support among students.
The initiative was led by Dr. Sadia Yasir, Head of Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences, JHL, with counselling services provided by Nadia Ijaz, Senior Clinical Psychologist (M.Phil, BS Psychology).
Faculty members and students attended the inauguration and warmly appreciated this meaningful initiative aimed at providing a safe, confidential and supportive space for students to seek professional guidance and address emotional and psychological concerns.
The establishment of the Counselling Cell reflects AIMC’s commitment to the holistic well-being of its students, recognising that nurturing healthy minds is essential for developing compassionate, resilient and competent healthcare professionals.

A special initiative of Honourable Chief Minister Punjab, Madam Maryam Nawaz, to support working mothers has been translated into action at Allama Iqbal Medical College & Jinnah Hospital Lahore.
The Two Day Care Centers, developed with the support of the Women Development Department, Government of Punjab, were inaugurated by Ms. Sadia Taimoor, Parliamentary Secretary.
On the occasion, Prof. Dr. Tayyiba Wasim Principal AIMC expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Honourable Chief Minister Punjab, Madam Maryam Nawaz, the Women Development Department, Government of Punjab, and Ms. Sadia Taimoor, Parliamentary Secretary, for their valuable support and collaboration. She also appreciated the dedicated teams whose hard work and commitment made this initiative possible.

🌿🎥 Celebrating Sustainability & Creativity at AIMC 🌱✨

Under the visionary leadership of Principal AIMC, Prof Dr Tayyiba Wasim, and patronship of Prof Dr Mah Jabeen Muneera, On Saturday Aug 8 2026, Environment Society, AIMC, successfully conducted its Monsoon Plantation Drive🌧️🌱🍃💚, followed by the Results Announcement of the Reel Competition 🎬🥇💫 bringing together the spirit of environmental responsibility, creativity, and student engagement.
The event commenced in the AV Room Anatomy Department, where the shortlisted reels showcasing the creativity, originality, and enthusiasm of students, from the Reel Competition were screened.
The winners of the Reel Competition were announced and prizes were presented in recognition of their creativity, dedication, and efforts. In her address Principal AIMC, Prof Dr Tayyiba Wasim highlighted the importance of taking ownership of the campus to the students and that how their small acts could have huge impact on the environment they are living in. Patron ES Prof Dr Mah Jabeen Muneera acknowledged and appreciated Mr. Kazim the Head Maali and his entire team for their continuous hard work and dedication towards making the environment of AIMC cleaner, greener, and more beautiful. 🌿💫 She also appreciated Zoonorain President ES, Marhaba Lady president ES, Aleeza Vice president ES, Aina, Asma, Sajjad, Asad, and all the incredible members of the Environment Society, AIMC, for their seamless coordination, dedication, and teamwork 💓💖. A special note of gratitude was extended to Dr. Ruqaia, Demonstrator Anatomy Department and a vital member of ES for her exceptional initiatives, and extraordinary efforts towards the betterment of our campus and the Environment Society. 💖🌟🌺The participants later contributed in a plantation activity in the front lawn of newly developed Daycare Centre, as a symbol of growth, sustainability, and AIMC’s continued commitment towards fostering a greener and healthier environment.🌱🍃

Under the dynamic leadership of Prof. Tayyiba Wasim, Allama Iqbal Medical College successfully conducted an Orientation Session for its newly inducted Postgraduate Residents (PGRs), marking the beginning of an exciting journey of academic excellence, professional growth, and clinical training.

The session was attended by senior faculty members and Heads of Departments, who warmly welcomed the new residents and shared their valuable experiences and guidance. Their insightful addresses highlighted the importance of professionalism, ethical medical practice, academic integrity, patient safety, research, teamwork, effective communication, and lifelong learning—qualities that define a competent specialist.

The distinguished faculty members in attendance included Prof. Shahid Sarwar, Prof. Ashraf Zia, Prof. Hammad Ayub, Prof. Irshad Malik, Prof. Naveed Iqbal, Prof. Mahjabeen Muneera, Prof. Hafiz Moeen-ud-Din, Prof. Sadaf Arooj, Prof. Najaf Masood, and Dr. Kamran Iqbal, whose presence reflected the institution's collective commitment to nurturing the next generation of medical specialists.

This year, 57 Postgraduate Residents joined various residency programs at Allama Iqbal Medical College:

The orientation familiarized the residents with the institution's academic environment, postgraduate training structure, expectations regarding clinical responsibilities, research opportunities, assessment processes, and the support systems available throughout their residency. The session also reinforced the values of excellence, discipline, compassion, and patient-centered care that have long been the hallmark of Allama Iqbal Medical College and Jinnah Hospital Lahore.

𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳. 𝗧𝗮𝘆𝘆𝗶𝗯𝗮 𝗪𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗺 𝗗𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗞𝗲𝘆𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗲 𝗔𝗱𝗱𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝟭𝟮𝘁𝗵 𝗨𝗖𝗛𝗦 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵𝗹𝘆 𝗪𝗲𝗯𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿

Prof. Tayyiba Wasim, Principal, Allama Iqbal Medical College and Head of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, was invited as the keynote speaker at the 12th UCHS Monthly Webinar, organized by the University of Child Health Sciences (UCHS) in collaboration with the Pakistan Pediatric Association (PPA) Lahore Chapter.

The webinar was held under the patronage of Prof. Masood Sadiq, Vice Chancellor UCHS and President PPA (Chief Patron), with Prof. Tipu Sultan, MD Children Hospital Lahore and Vice President PPA Punjab (Patron). Prof. Sajid Maqbool, Professor Emeritus, UCHS/Children Hospital Lahore, graced the event as the Special Guest.

Prof. Tayyiba Wasim delivered an insightful lecture on "Golden Hour: Every Minute Matters – A Collaborative Approach to Breastfeeding Success." She highlighted the pivotal role of the Golden Hour—the first hour after birth—in establishing uninterrupted skin-to-skin contact and early initiation of breastfeeding, interventions that significantly improve neonatal survival, reduce infections, promote exclusive breastfeeding, and strengthen mother–infant bonding.

She emphasized that Pakistan continues to face one of the highest neonatal mortality rates globally, with many newborn deaths being preventable through simple, evidence-based practices implemented immediately after birth. She discussed the practical challenges of implementing the Golden Hour in busy tertiary care hospitals and shared feasible strategies to overcome these barriers through protocol-driven care, staff training, and institutional commitment.

Prof. Tayyiba Wasim stressed that the success of the Golden Hour depends on a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach, requiring seamless coordination among obstetricians, pediatricians, neonatologists, anesthetists, nurses, midwives, and hospital administrators to ensure every newborn receives the best possible start to life.

The session featured an engaging panel discussion with distinguished experts including Prof. Junaid Rashid (Pro Vice Chancellor & Dean, UCHS), Prof. M. Khawaja Arshad (Professor of Pediatrics, Sargodha Medical College), Prof. Shamsa Humayun (Professor of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Ex VC, Fatima Jinnah Medical University), and Dr. Kaleem Malhi (Secretary General, PPA Punjab). The discussion was moderated by Dr. Wajiha Rizwan, Associate Professor, UCHS and Executive Member, PPA.

The webinar concluded with a strong consensus that strengthening multidisciplinary collaboration and prioritizing evidence-based newborn care practices are essential to improving breastfeeding outcomes and reducing neonatal mortality in Pakistan.
