🌟 A Proud Milestone for Allama Iqbal Medical College & Jinnah Hospital Lahore! 🌟

Alhamdulillah, 74 postgraduate training programs of Allama Iqbal Medical College & Jinnah Hospital Lahore, affiliated with the University of Health Sciences *(UHS)* — including MS, MD, MPhil & Diploma programs — and the College of Physicians & Surgeons Pakistan *(CPSP)* — including FCPS & MCPS programs — have been officially recognized by the Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PMDC).

This remarkable achievement, under the visionary leadership of Prof. Dr. Tayyaba Wasim, Principal Allama Iqbal Medical College, reflects the institution’s steadfast commitment to excellence in postgraduate medical education, clinical training, research, and patient care.

The PMDC inspection visit was carried out on 22nd & 23rd January 2026 across the departments of Allama Iqbal Medical College and Jinnah Hospital Lahore. This was a long-awaited and much-needed recognition process, as these postgraduate programs had not been formally inspected by PMDC before.

This recognition will bring immense relief and reassurance to postgraduate trainees, ensuring that their qualifications and degrees are duly recognized by PMDC and further strengthening their professional standing and future career prospects.

Special acknowledgment is extended to Prof. Farooq Ahmad Rana, Head of the Institutional PGME Committee, and other members of the PGME Committee including Prof. Shahid Sarwar and Prof. Hammad, Ayub along with Dr. Kamran Iqbal, PG Section In-Charge,Heads of all Basic Sciences and Clinical Departments,Medical Superintendent Jinnah Hospital Lahore, hospital administration team and nursing staff for their tireless efforts, coordination, and commitment that made this accomplishment possible.

Nurses are the backbone of every healthcare system. Their commitment, resilience, and selfless care provide comfort and hope to patients and families during their most vulnerable moments. From patient care and advocacy to education and leadership, nurses play a vital role in strengthening healthcare delivery and improving patient outcomes.

At Allama Iqbal Medical College & Jinnah Hospital, we proudly acknowledge the tireless efforts of our nursing professionals who work day and night with remarkable professionalism and empathy. Their contribution remains indispensable in ensuring quality healthcare services for our community.

⚔️Marka-e-Haq and Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos ⚔️
historic milestones symbolizing courage, resilience, unity, and the unwavering spirit of Pakistan.

Held under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Tayyiba Wasim, Principal Allama Iqbal Medical College, and Prof. Hafiz Moin ud Din, MS Jinnah Hospital Lahore, the walk paid tribute to the sacrifices, bravery, and dedication of our armed forces in safeguarding the sovereignty and dignity of the nation.

The walk was attended by senior faculty members including Prof. Farhat Naz, Prof. Ayub Mirza, Prof. Muniza Natiq, Prof.Shabnam Bashir, Prof. Nighat Majeed and Prof. Junaid, along with faculty members, nursing students and office staff reflecting unity, patriotism, and solidarity with the nation.

The 24th Convocation of Allama Iqbal Medical College (AIMC), under the leadership of Principal Prof. Dr. Tayyiba Wasim, was held in a grand and dignified ceremony, graced by Chief Guest Minister SHC&ME Khawaja Salman Rafique and Guest of Honor Prof. Dr. Javaid Akram.
The event marked the successful completion of the MBBS program and the formal induction of graduates into the medical profession. The convocation was attended by 350 graduating students, accompanied by their proud parents, making it a memorable and prestigious occasion.
The ceremony also witnessed the presence of retired faculty, distinguished guests and principals from other institutes, including Prof. Majid Chaudhry, Prof. Nawaz, Prof. Kamran Chaudhry, Prof. Saira Afzal,Dr. Zahid Pervaiz, Prof. Shamsa Humayun, Prof. Alia Bashir, Prof. Zakir Sial and Prof. Amna Ahsan.
The ceremony commenced with the National Anthem and recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by the presentation of the institutional report through a documentary. Dr. Mah Jabeen Muneera, Secretary Organizing Committee, welcomed graduates, faculty members, parents, and distinguished guests. The convocation was formally declared open by Prof. Dr. Nadia Naseen, Pro Vice Chancellor, University of Health Sciences. Graduates were then presented for oath-taking and subsequently awarded the MBBS degree, signifying their entry into professional medical practice.
In her address, Principal Prof. Dr. Tayyiba Wasim highlighted the institution’s academic progress, infrastructural development, and continued commitment to patient care and medical education. She emphasized gratitude towards parents and teachers and outlined key institutional milestones, including PMDC recognition of postgraduate programs, strengthened faculty registration and quality assurance systems, expansion of transplant services, improvements in emergency care and operation theatres, enhanced patient facilitation measures, and comprehensive digital transformation through HMIS and campus-wide digitization. She also announced the development of new specialized services, including an upcoming Autism Center.
Guest of Honor Prof. Dr. Javaid Akram emphasized patient-centered care as the foundation of medical practice, encouraging graduates to adopt compassion, professionalism, and attentive listening as core clinical values. He underscored that earning patients’ trust and prayers remains central to the identity of a good physician.
Chief Guest Khawaja Salman Rafique commended the institution’s contributions to medical education and healthcare delivery. He highlighted ongoing healthcare reforms and infrastructure development across Punjab and stressed the importance of respect for doctors and nurses, patience in clinical practice, and humane, attentive patient care.
The Medals Ceremony, hosted by Prof. Dr. Zunaira Kamal, recognized outstanding academic excellence across all professional examinations, awarding multiple gold, silver, and bronze medals along with cash prizes. Hadia Younis was declared Best Graduate of the MBBS Session 2019–2024 for securing the highest cumulative marks across all five professional examinations, emerging as the most decorated graduate of the session. Other distinguished awardees included recipients of the Prof. Tayyiba Wasim Gold Medal, Neelam Tajamul Gold Medal, and AIMCANA medals for excellence in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Forensic Medicine, and overall academic performance.
The convocation concluded with strong reflections on compassion, humanism, professionalism, women empowerment, and service to humanity, reinforcing the guiding principle that AIMC represents the dream, while clinical practice represents its realization.

AIMC mentorship program successfully going on. An engaging and thought-provoking interactive session on importance of Mentorship was held today at the AIMC auditorium, led by the Principal, Prof. Tayyiba Wasim.

The session was aimed at active participation by students and faculty, including Prof. Lamees Mahmood Malik, Dr. Gulraiz Zulfiqar, Prof. Muniza Natiq, Prof. Shahid Sarwar, Prof. Ayub Mirza, Prof. Amna Tahir, Prof. Rozina Khan, Dr. Kamran, Dr. Anwar Zeb, Dr. Ghazala Butt, Dr. Saima Zaki, Dr. Mehwish Akhtar, and Dr. Sana Iftikhar. It fostered a collaborative environment of learning and reflection, with faculty members actively contributing their valuable input, sharing experiences and practical perspectives that further enriched the discussion.
Prof. Tayyiba Wasim eloquently elaborated on the pivotal role of a mentor — as a guide, role model, and source of motivation who not only shares knowledge but also helps shape attitudes, professionalism, and career pathways.
She emphasized that effective mentorship is built on trust, empathy, active listening, and a non-judgmental attitude, along with a genuine commitment to the growth of mentees. The discussion also highlighted how structured mentorship can enhance academic performance, boost confidence, and support the emotional well-being of students.
Special appreciation for the dedicated efforts of the Chairpersons of the Mentorship Program, Prof. Lamees Mahmood Malik and Dr. Gulraiz Zulfiqar, who are actively leading and strengthening this important initiative at AIMC.

🌿 Spring Plantation Drive & Pot Painting Competition at AIMC🌿
The Environment Society AIMC under the able and dynamic leadership of Prof Dr Tayyiba Wasim, Principal AIMC, successfully organized a vibrant Spring Plantation Drive along with a Pot Painting and Décor Competition, on 20th April in Rose Garden, bringing together students, faculty, and distinguished guests in a shared commitment to environmental sustainability and campus beautification.
The event was graced Honourable Madam Rushda Lodhi, Parlimentary Secretary for SHC & ME as Chief Guest and Honorable Dr. Asad Ashraf a distinguished AIMC alumni and former Senator as Guest of Honour. The event was well attended by esteemed faculty members; including Prof Hafiz Moeen ud Din, Prof Farhat Naz, Prof Ashraf Zia, Prof Muneeza, Prof Shabnam, Prof Sadia, Prof Kaukab, Prof Zunaira, Prof Khalid Mehmood, Prof Mirza Ayyub, Prof Imran Ashraf, Prof Lamees, Prof Uzma Hamza, Prof Kausar Bano, Dr Gulraiz, Dr Mehwish, Dr Sana, Dr Sajjad Akram, Dr Hammad, Dr Hassan Dr Ruqaia, Dr Kamran, Dr saima and many others. Their presence added significance to this noble initiative promoting environmental responsibility.
A special acknowledgment was made to the Principal, Prof. Dr. Tayyiba Waseem, whose vision inspired the inclusion of the pot painting activity and plantation followed by ownership of plants individually planted by CRs and GRs of 1st and Final years. Her support, including provision of resources, played a key role in fostering creativity among students while enhancing the aesthetic environment of the campus, particularly the revival of the Rose Garden.
Cash Prizes and appreciation certificates were also distributed among winner students and Head Maali.
Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Mahjabeen Muneera, the Environment Society continues to lead impactful initiatives focused on sustainability, awareness, and student engagement. The plantation activity, combined with the artistic expression seen in the pot painting competition, reflected a strong collective commitment towards a greener and more beautiful AIMC.

A heartfelt farewell to Dr. Farhat Sultana, Head of the Department of Forensic Medicine, was held through two graceful gatherings by the Academic Council and the Basic Sciences Departments of Allama Iqbal Medical College (AIMC), Lahore.
At the Academic Council farewell, Prof. Dr. Farhat Sultana was honoured with a commemorative shield and the iconic AIMC Shaheen in recognition of her outstanding services and dedication. The entire Academic Council appreciated her remarkable contributions to AIMC and extended their best wishes and prayers for her future endeavors.
In a separate event, the Basic Sciences Departments, hosted by the Physiology Department, arranged a graceful farewell in her honour. The occasion was graced by Prof. Dr. Tayyiba Wasim, along with distinguished Heads of Departments including Prof. Mahjabeen Muneera, Prof. Zunaira Kanwal, Prof. Imran Ashraf, Prof. Muneeza, Prof. Shabnum Basir, Prof. Sadia Anwar, Prof. Kokab, and Prof. Amna Tahir, along with faculty members.
