🌟*Enhancing Diagnostic Excellence Through Evidence-Based Training* 🌟

*PIMH* , in Collaboration with *PILL Organization* , Successfully Conducted the *SCID for Psychosis Training* Workshop, Empowering Mental Health Professionals with Advanced Skills in Psychosis Assessment and Diagnosis.

Under the *visionary patronage of Prof. Dr. Aysha Rashid,* Executive Director, Punjab Institute of Mental Health (PIMH), a *Continuing Medical Education (CME)* activity was arranged.

The training aimed to strengthen the capacity of mental health professionals in the structured assessment and diagnosis of psychotic disorders using evidence-based clinical approaches.

The proceedings were *skillfully moderated by Ms. Aqila Unbrin, Principal Clinical Psychologist, PIMH* , ensuring active participation and meaningful engagement throughout the session.
The workshop commenced with a *welcome address by Prof. Dr. Aysha Rashid,* who highlighted the significance of continuous professional development and the use of standardized diagnostic tools in enhancing the quality of mental health care services.
The session was *facilitated by Dr. Siham Sikander, Consultant Psychiatrist, University of Liverpool, United Kingdom* , who delivered an insightful, engaging, and highly interactive training. Participants gained valuable knowledge and practical experience in the assessment, identification, and diagnosis of psychosis through the Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-5 (SCID).

The workshop brought together a *multidisciplinary audience comprising Psychiatrists, Psychiatry Postgraduate Residents (PGRs), Medical Officers, and Clinical Psychologists,* creating an enriching platform for learning, discussion, and professional collaboration.

The event **concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Farrukh Abdullah,** Registrar Unit C who acknowledged the contributions of the Executive Director, resource person, collaborating organization, organizing team, and participants for making the workshop a success.

This initiative *reflects PIMH's ongoing commitment to academic excellence, capacity building, and the promotion of evidence-based mental health practices* for improved patient care and diagnostic accuracy.

*Clinico-Pathological Conference (CPC)* focused on the neuropsychiatric consequences of brain injury.

*Topic: Secondary Mood Syndrome with Manic Symptoms: Post-Traumatic Psychiatric Illnesses Following Traumatic Brain Injury*

The session highlighted the complex relationship between traumatic brain injury and subsequent psychiatric manifestations, with particular emphasis on secondary mood disorders presenting with manic symptoms. Through clinical discussion and evidence-based analysis, participants explored diagnostic challenges, pathophysiology, and management strategies for post-traumatic psychiatric conditions.

🌸 *_PIMH Celebrates EID-UL-AZHA with Love, Compassion & Togetherness*_ 🌸

Under the *Visionary Leadership of Prof. Dr. Aysha Rashid, Executive Director* , Punjab Institute of Mental Health (PIMH), the *Wellness Club* PIMH, *convened by* *Ms. Aqila Unbrin* , Principal Clinical Psychologist, organized a joyful and heartwarming *Eid-ul-Azha Festivity with the female block* patients at PIMH.

The *celebration aimed to provide patients with a warm family-like environment and to share the true spirit of Eid through compassion, inclusion* , and happiness. *The event featured beautifully decorated stalls including Mehndi Corner, Bangles Corner, Nail Art Corner, Music Corner, Eid Photo Corner, and Nashta Corner,* creating a vibrant and festive atmosphere for the patients.

A *special live Halwa Puri breakfast was arranged through the generous support of kind donors.* The *donors themselves actively participated in the event, spending quality time with the patients* and sharing moments of joy and companionship, which made the celebration even more meaningful.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from the *administrative staff, teaching faculty, PGRs, doctors, clinical psychologists, Nursing Superintendent, and nursing staff,* *Interns of psychology* all of whom joined together to celebrate Eid with the patients and help them feel valued, connected, and cared for.
As part of the festivities, *Eid gifts were also distributed among the patients,* bringing smiles and excitement to the occasion.

🎨✨ *ARTBEAT WELLNESS CARNIVAL* ✨🎢

The *ARTBEAT WELLNESS CARNIVAL* was successfully organized at *Unit B Activity Room, Male Block,* Punjab Institute of Mental Health (PIMH) by *Wellness Club* PIMH, *convened by Ms. Aqila Unbrin* (Principal Clinical Psychologist & Chairperson Wellness Club PIMH), in collaboration with the *students of Lahore School of Nursing, The University of Lahore.*

The event was graciously *honored by our Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Aysha Rashid,* Executive Director PIMH, whose continuous encouragement and visionary leadership inspired a day centered around healing, hope, creativity, and holistic wellbeing.

We were also *honored by the presence of Prof. Sarfraz Masih,* Principal Lahore School of Nursing, UOL, along with *respected faculty members and students of UOL Nursing School,* reflecting a strong spirit of academic-clinical collaboration and community engagement.

*Mr Yawar and Mr Tallah* joined the event as *volunteer musicians* who played guitar and sang melodious song for patient's recreation .

The event concluded with *sovenair &Certificate Distribution Ceremony* for chief guest and organizing Team. *Hygiene kits* were distributed recognizing patients’ participation, confidence, enthusiasm, and achievements, making the day memorable and meaningful for everyone involved.

This vibrant collaboration beautifully highlighted the importance of compassion, creativity, teamwork, and recreation as powerful contributors to mental health recovery and emotional wellbeing.

*Strengthening Community Mental Health Care:* *Rural Psychiatry Training Program Held in Sheikhupura* 🌿

The *Community Psychiatry Department* of the Punjab Institute of Mental Health conducted a *rural psychiatry training program in Sheikhupura for primary care doctors,* aimed at equipping them with essential skills to provide preliminary mental health care within their communities.
*Prof. Dr. Aysha Rashid, Executive Director of PIMH,* delivered an insightful session on anxiety disorders and their psychiatric management and treatment planning. *Dr. Iqra Tariq,* Focal Person of the Community Psychiatry Department, shared valuable perspectives on mood disorders, while *Mr. Yousaf Raza,* Clinical Psychologist at the Community Psychiatry Department, discussed somatic symptom and related disorders, with a focus on differentiating them from underlying medical conditions to minimize the risk of misdiagnosis.

The training was attended and *actively participated in by Dr. Aijaz Sana, Dr. Akhtar, Dr. Naeem Qureshi, Dr. Faiza Aijaz, Dr. Shoaib, Dr. Rasheed, Dr. Sanan, Dr. Walia, Dr. Rabia Parfait, Dr. Saima, and Dr. Razaq.*

The session was effectively *moderated and well-coordinated by Dr. Sobia Asmat* , consultant psychiatrist whose efforts contributed greatly to the smooth ex*****on of the program. The training remained highly engaging and fruitful, concluding with an *interactive Q&A session led by Prof. Dr. Aysha Rashid.*

This community activity was conducted successfully with the aim of promoting mental health awareness and strengthening primary mental health care services at the community level. 🌱
