Hamara Paisa conducted Family Financial Literacy Workshops in Lahore recently with the help of SID foundation.
These workshops targeted the street where once, Drug peddlers & Nashai gangs, promoters & prostitutes, liquor dealers & pan spitting clients frequented until over a year ago. Now, 'Learning Hubs' has opened up new avenues for the people residing there by giving them an opportunity to save their future generations from such demoralized professions. The audience comprised of a mix of families which may include a dancer or promoter & those who had left these fields and joined the Learning Hubs & the general community who had previously stayed away from venturing into the ill famed street.
The sessions were sponsored by Ali Zafar Foundation. Our team discussed saving methods even if their income is minimal. The team handed out saving envelopes to motivate the audience into saving by giving an incentive to match their saving at the time of the next workshop when the envelopes would be opened. They learned how to open bank accounts, to do transactions, use an ATM card and budgeting.
The sessions were a huge success and Hamara Paisa team could not have been happier to become a part of this movement.
