A delegation of Pakistan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers’ Association (PPMA) under the leadership of Mr. Shafiq Ahmad Abbasi, Senior Vice Chairman PPMA met with Honorable Mian Mujtaba Shuja Ur Rehman, Minister for Finance and Parliamentary Affairs, Government of the Punjab on November 11, 2024 at 8 – Club Road, G O R – 1, Lahore.

Observance of the Financial Discipline in the District Health Authorities in Punjab Regarding Pending Liabilities
Mr. Shafiq Ahmad Abbasi, Senior Vice Chairman PPMA, thanked the Provincial Minister for giving the opportunity for a meeting and highlighted the Pending Payments issues in his opening remarks.
Members explained in detail about pending payments of medicines supplied to the Health Departments, Punjab by the Pharma Companies.
Senior Vice Chairman and members of delegation expressed their concern that the payments of many pharma companies have not been made them for a long time, which are pending for a long time.
PPMA members also expressed to the minister that after the issue of the letter by the P&S Healthcare, Government of the Punjab regarding meeting agenda, there has been a wave of concern among the Pharma Companies.
After detail deliberations, Provincial Minister decided with the consensus of PPMA that a committee will be constituted comprising Secretary P&S Healthcare, Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education, Finance and PPMA and very soon meeting of the decided committee will be called and pending payments issues of Pharma companies will be resolved.
Members of delegation requested the Minister to resolve the pending payment issues as soon as possible.
Honorable Minister listened all the reservations of PPMA members and assured that he will play an important role in resolving the issue of pending payments at the earliest.
The meeting ended with the vote of thanks to the chair.
