Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Blood Transfusion Authority (KP-BTA) organized a seminar on "Blood Bank Safety, Quality Management and Regulatory Compliance," bringing together participants from KP-BTA registered blood banks across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Prof. Dr. Yasar Mehmood Yousafzai attended the seminar as the Chief Guest and emphasized the importance of maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and compliance in blood bank services. He appreciated the dedication of blood bank professionals and encouraged continuous learning and adherence to national standards to ensure safe and reliable transfusion services for patients.

Dr. Zubina, Chief Executive Officer, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Blood Transfusion Authority (KP BTA), attended the closing contact sessions of the Certificate in Quality Management of Clinical Laboratories (CQMCL), Certificate in Phlebotomy, and Certificate in Infection Prevention & Control (CIPC) at KMU.

She appreciated the quality and relevance of the curricula and emphasized that continuing professional development (CPD) is essential for strengthening the laboratory workforce. She recommended that blood bank professionals should enroll in these programmes and that CPD should become a mandatory requirement for blood bank licensing.

During her visit, she also visited the voluntary blood donation camp organized by KMU students and toured the KMU Hospital Blood Bank—the only blood bank in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa operating entirely on voluntary blood donations.

IPDM–PHRL KMU Summer Internship Program – Batch 1

The Institute of Pathology and Diagnostic Medicine (IPDM), KMU, in collaboration with the Public Health Reference Laboratory (PHRL), successfully conducted the Orientation Session for the Summer Internship Program – Batch 1.

Mr. Sher Shah (Focal Person of the Internship Program), introduced the program structure, objectives, and learning outcomes. Mr. Hazrat Bilal (Manager Laboratory), briefed participants on laboratory rules, regulations, QMS and biosafety practices. The section leads also introduced their respective sections and highlighted the ongoing diagnostic and research activities at PHRL.

We welcome all interns and wish them a successful and rewarding learning experience.
