16th September 2026 - PHRL-KMU, Peshawar

A joint delegation from WHO and NIH Islamabad visited the Provincial Public Health Reference Lab.

The delegation visited all lab sections, reviewed ongoing diagnostic activities, quality standards and operations, and highly appreciated the dedication of PHRL staff for public health in KP.

They further expressed interest in continued collaboration to further strengthen and upgrade PPHRL.

Field Update: Kohat
The Rapid Response Team of Public Health Reference Laboratory (PHRL) along with the IDSRS and Public Health Department KP has been deployed to District Kohat for outbreak investigation of Dengue & Chikungunya.

The team is assessing high-risk areas and collecting samples for RT-PCR testing to confirm cases and guide control measures.

Today, the Institute of Pathology and Diagnostic Medicine (IPDM), Khyber Medical University (KMU) organized an insightful and informative workshop on “Thesis Writing & Dissertation” for MPhil and PhD scholars.

The workshop was conducted by Prof. Dr. Ihsan Ullah, who provided valuable guidance on the essential aspects of academic and research writing, including effective thesis structure, scientific writing, research presentation, and important considerations for preparing a quality thesis/dissertation.

The session was highly beneficial for our scholars and provided them with practical knowledge and valuable insights to strengthen their research and academic writing skills.

KP-PHRL, Khyber Medical University, has confirmed the detection of Vibrio cholerae O1, Ogawa serotype in stool samples from District Upper Dir.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Blood Transfusion Authority (KP-BTA) organized a seminar on "Blood Bank Safety, Quality Management and Regulatory Compliance," bringing together participants from KP-BTA registered blood banks across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Prof. Dr. Yasar Mehmood Yousafzai attended the seminar as the Chief Guest and emphasized the importance of maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and compliance in blood bank services. He appreciated the dedication of blood bank professionals and encouraged continuous learning and adherence to national standards to ensure safe and reliable transfusion services for patients.
