A comprehensive hands-on workshop on Obstetrics and Gynaecology (OBS/Gynae) clinical drills for IMM/FCPS Part-II trainees was successfully conducted on March 26, 2026 at Mercy Teaching Hospital.
The workshop aimed to enhance the clinical skills and practical competencies of postgraduate trainees. The session provided participants with valuable exposure to essential obstetric and gynaecological procedures through interactive discussions and practical demonstrations.
The workshop was graced by Prof. Dr. Mohammad Aman Khan, Principal PMC while the workshop was facilitated by a distinguished panel of experts including Prof. Dr. Tehniyat Ishaq Khattak, Prof. Dr. Shahnaz Parveen, Prof. Dr. Samdana Wahab and Associate Prof. Dr. Shandana Bawar, who shared their expertise and guided trainees through various clinical drills. Dr. Nafeesa Ghani and Dr. Aisha Ali served as moderators.
Key topics covered during the workshop included maternal collapse management, balloon tamponade, clinical audit, LCG, POP-Q, urodynamics, critical appraisal, and MVA.

Quality Control Committee Inspects Mercy Teaching Hospital

Dr. Maqsood Ali, Director, Quality Control Programme, Peshawar Medical College (PMC), conducted an inspection visit to Mercy Teaching Hospital along with core committee members Dr. Luqman, Dr. Salma, and Engineer Junaid ur Rahman.
During the visit, the team was accompanied by Medical Superintendent Dr. Ghias Rab and other concerned officials. The inspection aimed to review the hospital’s quality assurance standards, infrastructure, patient care facilities, and compliance with institutional protocols.

Mock Emergency Evacuation Fire Drill Conducted at Mercy Teaching Hospital
A mock emergency evacuation fire drill was conducted at Mercy Teaching Hospital under the supervision of Medical Superintendent Dr. Ghias Rajab. The exercise was organized to test and enhance the hospital’s emergency preparedness and response capacity.
The drill involved the safe and orderly evacuation of staff and patients from the hospital premises. Trained members of the hospital’s fire response team, along with other staff, actively participated by demonstrating the correct use of fire extinguishers and utilizing designated emergency exit routes.
The exercise was executed in a prompt and well-coordinated manner, reflecting the hospital’s commitment to ensuring the safety of patients, staff, and visitors.

World Breastfeeding Month Celebrated at Mercy Teaching Hospital, Peshawar

World Breastfeeding Month, observed globally every August to promote the importance of breastfeeding, was marked at Mercy Teaching Hospital, Peshawar, with a special program organized in collaboration with the Department of Pediatrics.
The event, held on Thursday, August 27, 2024, was attended by over 20 doctors from the Pediatrics and Gynecology departments, along with nursing staff.
Dr. Abdul Hamid, Consultant Pediatrician at Mercy Teaching Hospital, delivered an insightful presentation on the health benefits of breastfeeding and the drawbacks of formula milk. He emphasized that formula feeding not only impacts the health of both the child and mother but also creates a significant economic burden on society, straining national resources and foreign exchange reserves.
The program highlighted the hospital’s commitment to raising awareness and promoting breastfeeding as a vital public health initiative.
