Polycystic O***y Syndrome involves a hormonal imbalance where high levels of androgens and insulin disrupt the ovulation cycle. In a PCOS o***y, follicles often fail to mature, resulting in multiple small cysts and an enlarged ovarian size. This condition frequently leads to irregular periods, skin changes, and challenges with fertility. Managing symptoms requires a comprehensive approach to hormonal and metabolic health.

Burning during urination in a UTI occurs because bacteria irritate and inflame the bladder lining and urethra. When urine passes over these sensitive tissues it triggers a painful stinging sensation. This discomfort is a key indicator of an active infection that requires medical attention to prevent further complications. Staying hydrated can help flush out bacteria while seeking treatment restores a healthy bladder environment.

Study shows exercise literally reverses age-related heart damage.

Research from UT Southwestern and Texas Health Resources demonstrates that regular exercise can significantly reverse the stiffening of the heart’s left ventricle, a common consequence of sedentary aging.

By engaging in a structured routine four to five times a week, study participants saw an 18% boost in oxygen intake and a 25% improvement in heart elasticity over two years. This regimen combined moderate-intensity workouts with high-intensity interval training and strength training, proving far more effective at restoring cardiac function than lower-impact activities like yoga or balance training alone.

Dr. Benjamin Levine, the study's lead researcher, stresses that exercise should be treated as a fundamental pillar of daily hygiene to prevent potential heart failure. However, the window for these life-changing benefits is not indefinite; the study highlights that the heart retains the necessary plasticity to heal only if this active lifestyle begins before age 65. These findings, published in the journal Circulation, offer a powerful roadmap for middle-aged adults to reclaim their cardiovascular health and effectively undo the physical damage of years spent at a desk.

Best Sleep Positions During Pregnancy: A Guide

Selecting the correct sleep position is a crucial component of prenatal care, with health experts identifying side-sleeping as the most beneficial choice for both mother and child.

Sleeping on the left side is particularly advantageous, as it maximizes blood flow and ensures the efficient delivery of nutrients to the placenta. This position also alleviates pressure on internal organs, which can become increasingly compressed as the pregnancy progresses, helping to maintain a healthier circulatory environment for the developing fetus.

To maximize comfort and safety, practitioners suggest using supportive pillows between the knees, under the abdomen, or behind the back to stabilize the hips and spine.

While back-sleeping is generally safe in early pregnancy, it should be avoided after 20 to 28 weeks to prevent the weight of the uterus from compressing the vena cava, a major vein that returns blood to the heart. Should you wake up on your back, there is no need for alarm; simply roll back onto your side to restore optimal circulation and continue your rest.

The right side is also good (but left is best).

We all miss out on sleep now and then, but if you’re consistently losing out on shut-eye, it could lead to a health problem called sleep deprivation.

Also known as sleep insufficiency or sleeplessness, it can be acute (short-term) or chronic (long-term).

Synonyms/Related Terms:
Sleep insufficiency, insomnia, sleeplessness, sleep debt, or chronic

Consequences & Management:
