🩺 Types of Burns:
• 1st Degree – Red, dry, painful
• 2nd Degree – Blisters, very painful
• 3rd Degree – Full-thickness, may require grafting
📊 Rule of Nines (TBSA):
Quickly estimate burn percentage:
• Head & Neck = 9%
• Each Arm = 9%
• Anterior Trunk = 18%
• Posterior Trunk = 18%
• Each Leg = 18%
• Perineum = 1%
🚑 Nursing Priorities (ABCDE):
A – Airway
B – Breathing
C – Circulation
D – Dress wounds
E – Evaluate (inhalation injury)
💡 Quick Tip: Add all affected areas to calculate total burn percentage.
⚠️ NCLEX Alert:
• Large burns → fluid resuscitation (Parkland Formula)
• Children have different body proportions
📌 Must Know:
Higher TBSA = higher risk of shock, infection, and fluid loss
