پیشہ ورانہ اخلاقیات اور PMDC کی حالیہ ہدایات: ایک تجزیہ 📢
کسی بھی شعبے میں بہتری تبھی ممکن ہے جب ہر پروفیشنل اپنے مقررہ دائرہ کار (Scope of Practice) میں رہ کر خدمات سرانجام دے۔ حالیہ دنوں میں PMDC کی جانب سے جاری کردہ ہدایات اسی سمت میں ایک اہم قدم ہیں۔
اہم نکات اور پیشہ ورانہ ذمہ داریاں:
اہلیت کی بنیاد پر خدمات: جس طرح ایک نان-کوالیفائیڈ شخص نفسیاتی خدمات نہیں دے سکتا، اسی طرح ماہرِ نفسیات کو بھی صرف وہی خدمات دینی چاہئیں جن کی انہوں نے علمی اور فنی تربیت حاصل کی ہے (جیسے BS یا MS نفسیات)۔
میڈیکل بمقابلہ سوشل سائنس: میڈیکل ایک 'لائف سائنس' ہے جبکہ سائیکالوجی ایک 'سوشل سائنس'۔ ان دونوں کے درمیان فرق کو سمجھنا اور اسے تعلیمی اداروں میں واضح کرنا ضروری ہے تاکہ طلبہ کسی احساسِ کمتری کا شکار نہ ہوں۔
ادویات کی تجویز (Prescription) پر پابندی: متعدد کیسز سامنے آئے ہیں جہاں ماہرینِ نفسیات نے باقاعدہ لیٹر ہیڈ پر ادویات تجویز کیں یا اسٹیتھوسکوپ (Stethoscope) کا استعمال کر کے خود کو میڈیکل ڈاکٹر ظاہر کیا۔ یہ عمل پیشہ ورانہ اخلاقیات کے منافی ہے۔
فعال ریفرل سسٹم (Active Referral): کلائنٹ کی بہتری کے لیے ضروری ہے کہ اگر اسے طبی امداد کی ضرورت ہو تو اسے فوراً متعلقہ میڈیکل پروفیشنل (Psychiatrist) کے پاس ریفر کیا جائے۔
پیشہ ورانہ تحفظ: PMDC کی ہدایات سے وہی لوگ غیر محفوظ محسوس کر رہے ہیں جو یا تو اپنے دائرہ کار سے باہر کام کر رہے ہیں یا افواہوں پر کان دھر رہے ہیں۔ حقیقت میں یہ قواعد ایک پروفیشنل ماہرِ نفسیات کے کام کو مزید شفاف اور معتبر بناتے ہیں۔

One thing I wish more parents knew about speech therapy is that it’s not just about teaching a child to talk.

Speech therapy is really about teaching a child how to communicate.

For many autistic children, the biggest challenge isn’t intelligence or understanding. It’s expressing what they know, what they want, and what they feel. That gap between understanding and expression is often where frustration, meltdowns, and withdrawal come from.

Speech therapy works on closing that gap.
And progress doesn’t always look the way people expect. The first signs of progress are often very small and easy to miss.

A child who starts pointing to what they want.
A child who brings you an object instead of crying.
A child who makes more sounds or tries to imitate.
A child who begins to look at pictures to identify things.

Those are all early communication skills.

With Tadiwa, a lot of the work didn’t just happen during therapy sessions. It happened at home in simple activities like:

matching objects and pictures
learning animal names and the sounds they make
looking at flashcards of everyday items
identifying emotions from pictures
practicing pointing and choosing between two objects
naming things during play and daily routines

These activities may look like simple games, but they are actually building the foundation for communication.

Another important thing many parents don’t realize is that speech therapy doesn’t create overnight change. Communication develops step by step.
Sometimes the progress is so gradual that you only notice it when you look back months later.

Speech therapy also helps children who are nonverbal. Communication can grow through gestures, pictures, signs, or devices long before spoken words appear.

The goal is always the same: helping a child find a way to be understood.
