What one of our early stage ACL return to run sessions look like 🤝
With the support and guidance from our P2BE medical team, we will prescribe our early stage running progressions.
From a players POV we want a happy and quiet knee post running sessions with players feeling confident and strong when running - not dragging their operated limb along for the ride….
At P2BE we program to isolate running sessions on each day, so we can monitor any changes in the knee post 24 hour running.
The last thing we want is to layer on top additional anterior work, the knee reacts but we can’t pinpoint what from ❌
Our early stage running sessions include a lot of run mechanics to develop players rhythm, stiffness and co-ordination but also teach them to become more efficient when running.
Early on there won’t be a huge CV response with our running sessions, as it’s all about gradual expose for the knee.
Using tempos we can control speed and volume (the 2 most important variables early on), we can then progress over time with volume & W:R manipulation to start to increase aerobic adaptations.
