CODE NAME: The Golden Engine & the Keeper’s Release
I walked beside an old leader, laughter light between us, familiarity without fear.
Inside a place of shelves and heights, he lay down and began to change — shedding form, becoming something older. I chose movement instead of watching.
He rushed ahead, drink in hand, joy loud and careless. I followed, not chasing — correcting.
I reminded him: guardianship has weight. What dulls the mind cannot be carried forward.
When the boundary was spoken, he returned to the earth in a widening circle — complete.
Grief came briefly, then knowing.
The ground answered.
From the soil rose pillars of gold, then a vast engine — polished, heavy, alive with purpose. Not for grinding, but for driving what comes next.
Strength emerged from it, lifted me with ease, held me without question.
Time bent. Urgency dissolved.
“They can wait.”
And they did
