🦋 DO YOU ALWAYS FEEL TIRED, COLD OR GAIN WEIGHT UNEXPECTEDLY?

Let's talk about
HYPOTHYROIDISM!

The thyroid is a small, butterfly-shaped gland located at the front of your neck.

It produces hormones that regulate your body's metabolism, energy and temperature.

Hypothyroidism occurs when this gland doesn't produce enough hormones.

🔍 Common signs include: •
Constant tiredness •
Unexplained weight gain •
Feeling unusually cold •
Constipation •
Dry skin and thinning hair

🩺 What should you do?
A blood test can help check your thyroid function.

Treatment is available, so consult a healthcare professional if you have persistent symptoms.

❤️ GOD CAN MAKE YOU FEEL AT HOME, EVEN AT WORK.

Last Saturday, I was posted to a new unit and couldn't attend church because I was on duty.

But what a lovely surprise to meet another member of my church who was also on day shift! 🥹❤️

Though we couldn't worship in church that Sabbath, meeting each other brought a special joy and reminded me that we are never alone in our faith.

God can send encouragement in the most unexpected places. 🙏🏽

🚨 THAT RICE YOU LEFT IN THE POT OVERNIGHT? IT COULD MAKE YOU SICK!

Let's talk about something that happens in many homes.

You cook rice for lunch. There's some left over, so you cover the pot and leave it on the kitchen counter until morning.

The next day, you reheat it until it's steaming hot and eat it.

But did you know that reheating may not make improperly stored rice safe? 😳

Here's why:

🍚 Cooked rice can contain spores of a bacterium called Bacillus cereus.

🌡️ When rice stays at room temperature for too long, the bacteria can multiply and produce toxins.

🔥 Some of these toxins can survive reheating, so hot rice isn't necessarily safe rice.

✅ How to protect yourself:

Refrigerate leftover rice promptly, ideally within one hour.

Store it in shallow containers so it cools quickly.

Reheat only the portion you need until steaming hot throughout.

If rice has been left at room temperature for hours or overnight, throw it away.

❤️ Food safety isn't just about what you eat. It's also about how you handle it.

👇 BE HONEST!
Have you ever eaten rice left in the pot overnight because you thought reheating would make it safe?

🚨 YOUR COTTON BUDS MAY BE DOING MORE HARM THAN GOOD!

Do you use cotton buds to clean inside your ears after bathing? 👂

Here is something many people don't know: your ears are self-cleaning!

Earwax is not dirt. It helps protect your ear canal by trapping dust and other particles.

Pushing cotton buds inside your ears can:
❌ Push earwax deeper and cause a blockage.
❌ Scratch the delicate skin inside your ear.
❌ Injure your eardrum if inserted too deeply.

✅ What should you do instead?

• Gently clean only the outer part of your ears with a soft, damp cloth.
• Leave the ear canal alone if your ears are healthy.
• If you experience ear pain, reduced hearing, discharge, or persistent blockage, seek medical advice rather than trying to dig out the wax yourself.

🚨 PLEASE DON’T DISMISS SUDDEN CONFUSION AS JUST OLD AGE!

Imagine someone who was talking normally yesterday but today is suddenly forgetful, unusually sleepy, restless, or not making sense.

Please pay attention. ❤️

A sudden change in mental alertness can be a sign of delirium, which may be triggered by an infection, dehydration, medication effects, low blood sugar, or other serious medical problems.

⚠️ What should you do?

Take sudden changes in behaviour or awareness seriously.

Seek urgent medical assessment, even if there is no fever.

If the confusion starts suddenly, especially with facial drooping, weakness, or difficulty speaking, call emergency services immediately.

Do not assume it is dementia or a normal part of ageing.

💡 Remember: Dementia usually develops gradually, while delirium often develops over hours or days. Both need appropriate assessment, but sudden confusion can be a medical emergency.

Please share this with someone caring for an older parent or loved one.

One informed caregiver can make a difference.

HAVE YOU EVER LOOKED AT SOMEONE YOU KNOW VERY WELL… AND SUDDENLY FORGOT THEIR NAME? 😭

You know their face.

You know where you met them.

You know what they do.

But when you try to say their name…
NOTHING. 😂

This can happen because remembering a person's face and retrieving their name involve different parts of the memory process.

Sometimes the information is still stored in your memory—you just can't access it at that exact moment.

That's why, minutes later, you suddenly shout:
“OMG! I REMEMBERED!” 😂

It's a surprisingly normal experience.

So the next time someone's name disappears from your brain for 30 seconds, don't panic.

Your brain may simply be taking the scenic route. 🧠

Be honest: whose name have you forgotten while talking directly to them? 😂👇

🚿 WHY DOES HEARING RUNNING WATER SOMETIMES MAKE YOU FEEL LIKE YOU NEED TO P*E?

You hear a shower running.

You turn on the tap.

Someone flushes the toilet…

And suddenly, your bladder says: “Now!” 😂

But why?

Your brain can develop an association between the sound of running water and urination. Over time, that familiar sound can become a cue that makes you more aware of bladder sensations or increases the urge to urinate.

Cold water can also influence the body in ways that may increase the urge to p*e.

So no, you're not imagining it. 😄

Your brain, bladder and nervous system are constantly communicating—and sometimes, a simple sound is enough to get their attention.

Did this ever happen to you? 👀
