Yesterday, we did a 19km walk exploring the Kigali side. It was a special challenge for our WHBM advanced walkers.In our WHBM 100 Days Youth Initiative activities, we usually do shorter walks as we combine fitness with learning about the history of our liberation and remembrance sites. But as we prepare for our next official youth initiative activity on 13th June, we felt it was important to push ourselves a bit further. That’s why the advanced team took on this 19km experience and it was beautifully achieved.

A big thank you to our guide Cedrick, to all WHBM advanced walkers, and to everyone who keeps showing up with energy, discipline, and passion. And to the new members who joined us you are warmly welcome to the WHBM family πŸ’šπŸ”₯ Walking for Healthy Body and Mind continues to grow stronger with you.

Our next WHBM 100 Days Youth Initiative activity will be on 13th June, where we will visit the Murambi Genocide Memorial a moment of remembrance and learning ( Kwibuka, twiga amateka).

As the guide shared the history of the 1994 Genocide that took place here, we were reminded of the deep pain this place carries, but also the extraordinary bravery of those who stood firm until their last breath. Standing in Bisesero, listening and learning, was a powerful reminder that remembrance is not only about the past, it is a responsibility for the future.
