Places of power are all around us. In Berlin, candles are still burning before this pond's water, which fluctuations mysteriously and never runs dry in summer (unlike other ponds nearby). Upon Gonzo Pilgrimage's arrival, whole sacrifices could be seen half digested by the icy face in the dark corners of the frozen shore. Hel's Quagmire can be visited soon in one of our videos to come, where you can learn of it's mystical history and legend for for yourself on our YouTube channel. Stay tuned!

Gonzo Pilgrimage is conducting interviews with those who are currently:

•Developing something in a spiritual or cultural vein (Books, Apps, Rituals, Revivals, Films, Illustrations, Music, etc.)

•Actively engaged in a growing project that deserves to be discussed (Events, Groups, Shops, Practices, etc.)

•Are involved in a unique tradition (Religious, Spiritual, Cultural, Esoteric, etc.)

While we work hard to travel around the world filming unique documentaries, essays, reviews, and interviews for you, we would also like to dedicate our focus to the written word, and that includes delivering you thoughtful, well-researched inquiries on your projects, practices, and philosophies to be published on our Substack. https://www.substack.com/

To request an interview, message us directly with a brief description of what you're involved in per the criteria listed above and we will let you know if and when we can begin. We can only accept a limited number of interviews at the moment, so don't hesitate to message us sooner rather than later.

There‘s lots of talk about Masks/Godmasks and similar stuff in the world of contemporary Norse art. Especially among tattoo artists specialising in a “Viking” style, these anthropomorphic faces are extremely popular.
Certainly far less popular is my opinion that tattoos as well as other more 2 dimensional artworks don’t really do the essence of ancient Germanic knotwork any justice. It is a multi-dimensional, spiritual essence. Hence reducing it to a flat surface as in tattoos, drawing, painting, wood burning etc takes away a crucial part of this essence. This is not to say that I think that all of the media mentioned above are equally unsuitable for the creation of Norse/Germanic art, but there are certain limitations.
So personally I have always preferred artworks that you can feel/touch as well as see, just adding this extra dimension. Which brings me back to the aforementioned masks - what about making them into real masks for potential use in a ritual setting?
This was something I had thought about quite a bit over the years but I actually wasn’t interested enough in it, because I mostly avoided any anthropomorphic designs as much as I could. But for several reasons that I won’t go into right now, this has become a more interesting topic recently.
However, true to my anti-human sentiments and the path of the Wolf, the first serious experiment in this regard is this Wolf-Mask that has become a crucial part of my spiritual practice this winter.
The slides above show you the initial design as well as the work in progress towards a three dimensional object based on this 2D artwork.

᛬ᚠᛅᚾᚱᛁᛦ᛬

First part of a larger project. I am by no means a good woodburner but this turned out pretty decent, so I am satisfied.
This time the design is actually my own interpretation of an ancient piece from Espinge, Skåne.
Look closely and you might see - the fetters around the legs of the “beast” are loose - Ragnarök is upon us!
