Advancing Dementia Care: Perspectives from the Ground

We are proud to have our Head of Social Services, Brandon Ow Yong, representing us at the Dementia Masterclass 2026! Brandon joined a panel of experts to dive into the “Singapore Perspective: Dementia Care Challenges on the Ground.”

Together with fellow speakers including Mr Kenny Tan, CEO of St Luke’s Eldercare Ltd, Mdm Low Mui Lang, Clinical Director & Director of Nursing of All Saints Home as well as special speaker, Ms Francien van de Ven from Netherlands, the session highlighted real challenges faced by care teams, from managing wandering and safety concerns, to supporting families and creating meaningful programmes for seniors with dementia.

Brandon also shared how strong support from management and better understanding from families can make a big difference in helping care teams provide consistent, quality care.

It was an afternoon of valuable exchange, and a timely reminder that supporting persons living with dementia requires a collective effort from care teams, families, and the wider community.

A Joyful Day of Singing and Dancing 🎤

Our residents from Upper East Coast had a great time over the weekend at Holy Grace Presbyterian Church (HGPC).

It was a lovely opportunity for our residents to spend time together, and connect with the kind members of the HGPC community. We are grateful for the thoughtful invitation and generous hospitality extended to our residents.

The lively music brought smiles all around, with our residents singing and dancing along as the band guided them through simple movements such as clapping and swaying. It was heartwarming to see everyone enjoying the rhythm and energy together.

Thank you, Reverend Abel and HGPC, for creating such a heartwarming experience.

Better Meals 🍴, Better Sleep 💤

Our ELH@SKG seniors recently participated in an engaging wellness workshop, “From Plate to Pillow: The Sleep-Nutrition Connection,” conducted by our Ground-up Community Initiatives partner, Active Radiant Life.

The session helped our seniors better understand how daily food choices can influence sleep quality, especially as part of healthy ageing. Beyond learning useful tips, our seniors also enjoyed an interactive hands-on activity, in which they made their own healthy smoothies.

A heartfelt thank you to Active Radiant Life for conducting such an insightful workshop and creating a meaningful learning experience for our seniors. Through sessions like these, we continue to encourage healthy habits that contribute to better sleep, improved mood and overall well-being.

Planting seeds of joy at ECON Henderson 🌱

Our residents had a great time with CitySprouts and children from PCF Sparkletots during the gardening workshop that was held as part of our shared efforts to grow the community farm at 100 Henderson.

Guided by CitySprouts, the children learnt the basics of plant growth before joining our residents in hands-on gardening activities. Together they loosened the soil, planted seeds, and watered the garden. The children were proactive in helping our residents with the activities, creating simple yet meaningful moments of connection.

The children even gave a special performance of classic Chinese songs for our seniors. One resident even shared that they reminded her of her grandchild, a touching moment that brought many smiles all around.

Thank you to City Sprouts for leading this enriching workshop, and to the children from PAP Community Foundation for filling ECON Henderson with warmth and laughter.
